9 Ways To Fix Measure App Not Working on iPhone in iOS 17

A lot of the time, the iPhone Measure app won’t work because there’s a software issue with the app itself. The troubleshooting steps below will help you determine if the app is malfunctioning and show you how to fix the problem if it is.

1. Make Sure You’re in a Place With Good Lighting

Are you using the Measure app on your iPhone to measure objects and people in low light? If so, use adequate lighting to assist the iPhone’s Camera in focusing better.

2. Check Your iPhone’s Case

Are you trying to measure objects and people but the Measure app isn’t focusing on the main subject? If so, make sure that the edges of your iPhone cover are not in the view of your camera lenses. If your iPhone cover is blocking the camera’s lens, the Measure app won’t work. Take off your iPhone’s cover to ensure that it’s not obstructing the view.

3. Clean The Camera Lens on Your iPhone

If any of your iPhone’s camera lens is dirty, the measure app may not work properly. Gently wipe the Camera lens of your iPhone with a dry cloth to remove the smudges that may be obstructing the view.

4. Close And Reopen The Measure App

Closing and reopening the Measure app will give it a chance to shut down and try again the next time you open it. Think of it like restarting your iPhone, but for an app. If the app crashed, or if other software crashed in the background, your iPhone Measure app won’t work.

If your iPhone has a Home button, double-press the Home button. This will bring up the app switcher, which lets you access all the apps currently open on your iPhone. Swipe up on the Measure app to close out of it. You’ll know the Measure app is closed when you no longer see it in the app switcher.

To open the app switcher on an iPhone with a Face ID, swipe up from the bottom to the center of the screen. This will bring up the app switcher. To close out of the Measure app, swipe the app up until it’s completely gone from the screen.

5. Restart Your iPhone

Restarting your iPhone allows all of the programs that operate your iPhone to shut down and start over again. Sometimes, turning your iPhone off and back on can resolve a minor software issue that could be causing the Measure app not to work properly.

To restart your iPhone, press and hold the Sleep / Wake button, which is also known as the power button. After a few seconds, the words Slide to power off and a red power icon will appear near the top of your iPhone’s display. Swipe the red power icon from left to right to turn off your iPhone.

Wait about half a minute before turning your iPhone back on, just to make sure all the little programs have enough time to completely turn off. To turn your iPhone back on, press and hold the Sleep / Wake button. Release the Sleep / Wake button when the Apple logo shows up in the center of your iPhone’s display.

If you have an iPhone with Face ID, press and hold the side button and either the volume up or volume down button simultaneously. When slide to power off shows up on display, swipe the power icon to the right to shut down your iPhone. Wait about 30 seconds, then press and hold the side button again to restart your iPhone.

6. Make Sure The Measure App Is Up To Date

iOS updates usually add new features, patch up software problems, or fix security issues. With that in mind, always ensure you are running the most recent version of the iOS to have the latest software. Otherwise, Measure may not be working correctly. Measure app is a native app therefore, it can only be updated by updating iOS.

If an update is available, tap Download & Install or Install Now. In order to complete the install of the iOS update, you’ll need to plug your iPhone into a charger or have 50% battery life. When the install is complete, your iPhone will reboot.
