does your iPhone keyboard lag after updating your device to iOS 14 ? You’re not alone! In this article, I’ll show you how to fix iPhone keyboard lag problem for good!
This is a common issue, that’s occurring mostly in the Messages app. When the user taps on the text input field, the keyboard either loads with a delay, lags when typing or freezes. More, there’s an overall sense of keyboard slowness.
There are many troubleshooting tips that can help you fix iPhone keyboard lag issue, including turn off Reachability, disable Zoom, enable Reduce Motion, but neither worked on our devices.
How To Fix iPhone Keyboard Lag In iOS 14
The only trick that works until Apple issues an official fix in an upcoming software update is:
- Start the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to General.
- Scroll down and tap Reset.
- Tap on Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
- Type in your device Passcode and the iPhone keyboard lag bug should be fixed.

What you can also try is to reset the iMessage system and see if this workaround will fix the lagging keyboard in iOS 14. Here’s how:
- Start the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Messages.
- Turn off iMessage.
- Tap the toggle next to iMessage to turn the service back ON.
Please note: Waiting for activation… message has to be displayed under the iMessage label, to confirm that the service is resetting.
Tip: You can also fix the iPhone keyboard lag issue by performing a force restart, but we noticed that this fix does not always work, and even when it does, it’s temporary, because the problem occurs again sooner rather than later!

I did both fixes, resetting the dictionary ( I needed to do that anyway) and toggling off the iMessage service (this also fixed my iMessage problem on my MacBook) and the lag is gone. Thanks guys!
Reset network settings works for a while. Settings/ reset/ network. You’ll have to re enter your Wi-Fi passwords but it does fix the lag for a while.
Tried the keyboard reset and it worked for a couple of days and then came back and now the reset doesn’t work at all . Still delays to type

These are all just temporary fixes. Within a day or even hours, the text lag will come back.
I must’ve gotten lucky! I did the dictionary reset in early December and I haven’t experienced any problems since! Fingers crossed!
I tried the fixes, it came back after a day or so, but now it doesn’t even seem to fix it anymore
