How to fix Messages App Stickers Not Working on iPhone in iOS 17

Many iphone users are reporting that stickers in the messages app is not working. They have further said that the messages stickers were working before updating to iOS 17.

When affected users tap on the stickers, it returns to the messages typing bar. In this article, I’ll show you how to fix this issue.

How To Fix Stickers Not Working On iPhone in iOS 17

Whether the Stickers app is not opening in Messages, or if Stickers are not available in the Emoji keyboard after iOS 17 update, follow the steps below to fix the issue:

Sign out of iCloud and sign back in

If the stickers app goes blank or crashes when opening, signing out of iCloud, rebooting iPhone and logging back into iCloud will fix this issue. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on your Apple ID name.
  3. Scroll to the bottom, and then tap Sign Out.
  4. Enter your Apple ID password.
  5. Tap Turn Off. If you want to keep a copy of your data on this iPhone, turn on this feature.
  6. Tap Sign Out again.
  7. Tap Sign Out to confirm the process.
    • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
    • Restart your device:iPhone XS, 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15: Press and hold the Side and volume up (or down) buttons together until the power off slider appears. Then drag onscreen the slider. Wait 1 minute for your device to completely turn off. Then press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears. iPhone SE second generation or newer: Press and hold the power button until you see the power off slider. Drag the slider. Then wait 1 minute for your device to power off. Then press and hold the power button until you see the Apple logo.
  8. Now sign back into iCloud.
    • Finally, go to Settings > Messages and turn on iMessage.

Update your iPhone

We know that your iMessage stickers problem started after a recent update to iOS 17. Apple continuously releases updates to iOS 17 to fix known iOS bugs. Please ensure that you have the latest iOS 17 version. Here’s how to update your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Software Update. If there is a new version, you will see it there. Then tap the Update button and follow the onscreen instructions.

Reset all settings

This process resets your all customized settings to default settings, but no data or media will be deleted.

  1. Launch Settings app.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Scroll down to bottom and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Tap reset.
  5. Select Reset All Settings.
  6. Enter your iPhone passcode.
  7. Tap reset all settings in the pop-up window.
  8. Tap Reset All Settings to confirm the process.
