1. Close And Reopen The News App

There’s a good chance that the News app is not working after iOS17 update because of a software glitch within the app itself. By closing and reopening the News App, you’ll give it a second chance to open properly the next time you open it.

To close out of the News app, we’ll first have to open up the app switcher. Double-press the Home button, if your iPhone has one. If your iPhone doesn’t have a Home button, swipe up from below the bottom to the center of the display. Hold your finger in the center of the display until you see the menu of the apps currently open on your iPhone.

To close out of the News app, swipe it up and off of the screen. You’ll know the News is closed when it no longer appears in the app switcher.

2. Make Sure Region is Set Correctly on Your iPhone

If you can’t find News app on your iPhone, this is because Apple News and Apple News aren’t available in all countries or regions. Apple News is available in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

You can check if the region is set correctly on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Language & Region.

3. Make Sure You’re Connected To Wi-Fi Or Your Cellular Network

7. Turn Off VPN

If you use a VPN, it could be preventing your iPhone from loading News.

Incorrect Date & Time settings can cause a ton of issues on your iPhone, as they can trick your iPhone to think it’s in the past, future, or a completely different time zone. Start the Settings app on your iPhone and go into General > Date & Time. Check to ensure your iPhone is set to the correct Time Zone, and that the date and time are correct.

This completely fresh start will often fix the software problem that prevented your iPhone from connecting to Wi-Fi in the first place. It will also reset any settings you may have changed that could be interfering with Apple News loading without you knowing.
