If you’re switching from Android to iPhone SE 3, make sure you transfer all of your important data—contacts, photos, music—when you make the switch.

For iPhone to iPhone users, the process of transferring data is simple since all you need to do is place your old and new iPhones next to each other for the data transfer to begin.

However, transferring data from Android to iPhone can be a lengthy process. But it’s not especially difficult, either. There are a couple of easy ways to transfer data from an Android device to an iPhone SE 2022, depending upon whether you want to set up a new iPhone or move just a few files to an an already setup iPhone.

This article provides step-by-step instructions on the best way to transfer data from Android to iPhone SE 2022.

How to transfer data from Android to iPhone SE 2022

Method 1: Transfer data from Android to iPhone SE 2022 via Move to iOS app

Apple’s Move to iOS app can help you transfer your phone data from Android to a new iPhone SE 3 easily. While it can’t transfer your apps, music or passwords, it can be used to transfer your photos, calendar info, contacts, text messages, email accounts, photos and videos.

  1. On your new iPhone SE, begin the normal setup process until you reach the Apps & Data screen. From here select the “Move Data from Android” option.
    • Note that if you have already setup your iPhone SE, you will be required to erase your device. This can be done on your iPhone by going to Settings, clicking on General, followed by Transfer or Reset iPhone, and choosing the “Erase all content and settings” option.
  2. On your Android device, enable Wi-Fi and connect to a network. Then head to the Google Play Store and download the Move to iOS app. Open the app, agree to the terms of use and grant the app access to your files and location.
  3. You will then be asked to Find Your Code. Tap Continue..
  4. Enter the code displayed on your iPhone SE 3 into the Android. A Transfer Data screen will appear, with a list of items you can copy over to your iPhone.
    • You will have the option to pick and choose what you would like to transfer to your iPhone SE: Options are your Google account, calendar info, Chrome bookmarks, text messages, contacts, and photos and videos.
  5. Select the items you would like to transfer and click Next.
  6. Your Android device will now begin transferring the content over to your iPhone SE. Depending on how much is being transferred, it could take a couple of minutes for the entire process to complete. It took me less than 10 minutes.

Method 2: Transfer data from Android to iPhone SE 2022 via Google account

Next, you can use your Gmail to transfer data from Android to iPhone SE via the cloud. This method is ideal if there are any extra files that you forgot to move over during the first method or if you had already set up your iPhone SE and couldn’t use Move to iOS.

Here’s how to transfer data from Android to iPhone SE 2022 after setup:

  1. Launch the Settings app on your Android. Look for the Google tab, tap Backup, and toggle on what categories you’d like to be synced across devices. You can double-check what’s being copied by expanding Google Account data in the Backup details list. Wait until the backup sync is completed.
  2. Open up the iPhone’s settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > and enter your Gmail credentials.

The data from your Google account should sync with the iPhone SE and automatically begin importing.

Method 3: Transfer data from Android to iPhone SE 2022 via iTunes

Move to iOS doesn’t transfer everything: music files, ebooks, PDFs, cloud documents, and other files will need to be transferred manually.

For the most part, this process requires you to connect your Android phone to your computer, transfer the files you want saved to that computer, then plug your iPhone SE into the same computer.

For example, you can export your music files from Android and then import them to your iPhone SE via iTunes. Here’s how:

  1. Plug your Android device to your computer and find your music. Select the songs that you want to move and drag them to a folder on your computer designated for this purpose.

  2. Open iTunes and select the Music section. Then, open the folder where you saved your music filed from your Android Device.

  3. Drag the files to the Music view in iTunes.

  4. Disconnect your Android device and connect your iPhone SE to your computer and select it in iTunes. Then, click on the Music tab.

  5. Check the Sync Music box. Then, choose to sync your entire library, or select specific songs to add. If you turn on iCloud Music Library, the new songs will be available to stream or download right on your device.

Please note: If you use a streaming app that works on both platforms, like Spotify or Apple Music, transferring is easy. Just install the app on your iPhone and log in using the same account you used on Android. Your music library will load right up. You’ll need to download any offline songs again.

If you have any ePub books or PDFs stored on your Android device, you can also move them to your iPhone SE via iTunes similar to moving music.

Method 4: Transfer data from Android to iPhone SE 2022 via Google drive

You can also upload files into a Google Drive folder and download them onto your iPhone SE 3. Just note that a standard, free Google account comes with 15GB of storage. You’ll have to pay up for expanded cloud storage.

FAQs

Can I use the ‘Move to iOS’ app even if I already set up my iPhone SE?

No, unfortunately, you cannot use the file-transfer service if you already completed the iOS Setup Assistant. My best advice is to back up anything on your new iPhone that you’d like to keep, factory reset the iPhone, use the Move to iOS service, and then retrieve what was backed up. Again, just make sure you have enough storage to hold everything.

What is the fastest way to transfer data from Android to an iPhone SE 2022?

Apple’s Move to iOS service is the most seamless and efficient transferring service that I’ve used to move data from Android to iPhone SE 2022, especially when I’m still going through the initial phase of setup. Otherwise, you can also use third-party desktop programs: connect both phones to a computer, and move files across locally. However, I’m typically against using non-proprietary software when moving personal information, so I’d stick with the methods above for safety.

Can I transfer data from Android to an iPhone SE after setup?

Yes. The best method is to back up any information that you’d like to transfer into Gmail or Google Drive and then download it from your iPhone. It requires more manual work, but it’s great if you only want to move certain files and not all.

Can I transfer data from Android to iPhone SE using a flash drive?

Yes. It’s a bit convoluted, and works best if you’ve perhaps got big files to move. A flash drive such as the SanDisk iXpand Luxe for iPhone and USB Type-C devices is ideal because it will connect to iPhone SE and earlier iPhones that have Lightning ports, and the iPhone 15 and Android devices that have USB-C ports.
