If you own an iPhone 13 Pro that won’t ring sort of defeats the purpose of having a phone in the first place. So if you’re experiencing a problem of iPhone 13 Pro not ringing when someone calls, it can be understandably frustrating. But there are a few easy and even quick fixes that you can try before getting in touch with Apple Support.

What Causes iPhone 13 Pro to Stop Ringing?

If your iPhone 13 Pro isn’t ringing when someone calls, the cause could be user- or software-related. In the worst cases, the phone might be suffering from physical damaged. There’s also a possibility that you inadvertently silenced your iPhone, left it on Airplane or Focus Mode, enabled call forwarding, or there’s an issue with a third-party app.

You can troubleshoot whether your iPhone 13 Pro isn’t ringing due to a user-related issue by checking whether the device is on silent mode, in Airplane Mode, or has Focus Mode enabled.

If your iPhone 13 Pro isn’t ringing due to a software or hardware glitch, try restarting your phone or performing a factory reset before reaching out to Apple Support.

Solutions For iPhone 13 Pro Not Ringing Problem

1. Check that your iPhone isn’t on Silent Mode

This is the most common reason for iPhone 13 Pro not to ring and the easiest to troubleshoot. You may have inadvertently put the iPhone on silent mode without realizing it. If you can still hear other media, like videos or music, this is likely the issue.

Make sure the Ring / Silent switch located on the left side of your iPhone 13 Pro is set to ring.

If the switch is moved toward the screen, your iPhone is set to ring. If the switch is moved toward the back of the device, your iPhone 13 won’t ring and a small orange stripe will appear next to the switch. A speaker icon will also appear on your iPhone’s screen when you flip the switch.

2. Check that your iPhone isn’t in Airplane Mode

Another common ringtone issue is your iPhone 13 Pro accidentally being set in Airplane Mode. It’s pretty easy not to realize your iPhone is in Airplane Mode for a short time as it will simply appear as if no one is calling you. If you’re also having trouble accessing the internet when not on Wi-Fi, or you can’t send or receive text messages, this is likely the issue. You can check this by pulling down from the top right of the phone’s screen to access control center or by going to Settings > Airplane mode. Make sure it’s toggled off.

3. Make sure Focus Mode is disabled

Focus Mode is a great feature you can find on your iPhone. It can help you to focus on something without being disturbed by phone calls. When you are attending a meeting or want to take a rest for a few hours, you can rely on this handy feature.

If Focus mode is enabled, other audio will still work, and you will still receive incoming calls and texts. You just won’t be alerted when they come in.

In some cases, the user accidentally turns this feature on without even realizing it. The easiest way to tell if a Focus Mode is enabled is to open Control Center and look in the upper right-hand corner of your iPhone, just to the left of the battery icon. If a Focus is enabled, you’ll see the corresponding Focus icon there. Disabling this feature is quick and easy:

  • Go to Control Center by swiping down from top right of your iPhone’s screen.
  • Tap the Focus button to turn it off.

4. Make sure the number isn’t blocked on your iPhone

iOS offers users the ability to block specific phone numbers , which is handy if you get a lot of telemarketing and other spam phone calls. To make sure you didn’t inadvertently block an important number, follow these steps.

  1. Start the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. scroll down and tap “Phone.”
  3. Tap “Blocked contacts”
  4. In the list of blocked calls, see if you have accidentally blocked any numbers. To unblock it, swipe it to the left and tap “Unblock.”

5. Make sure silence unknown callers is turned off

The Silence Unknown Callers feature silences unfamiliar callers, automatically sending them to voicemail. Perfect for handling robocalls and the like however, it might be the reason why your iPhone 13 Pro is not ringing. Here is how to turn it off:

  1. Launch Settings
  2. Tap Phone.
  3. Scroll down and disable Silence Unknown Callers.

6. Check that you don’t have Call Forwarding turned on

To verify whether or not this is your issue and to turn the setting off, if it is, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Phone.
  3. Select Call Forwarding.
  4. Make sure call forwarding is marked “Off.”

7. Check your iPhone volume

Try to increase the volume of your iPhone to the highest level and then call your number using the other device. To volume up your iPhone, you have to unlock your iPhone first. Then, click the plus button ( ) on the side of the iPhone until the volume goes to the maximum.

8. Check if it’s a ringtone issue

If you downloaded a third-party or purchased a ringtone to use on your iPhone 13 Pro and it isn’t working, it could be a software glitch causing the sound to fail when someone calls you. Try switching to one of the iPhone’s pre-set ringtones, and see if that solves your problem. Here’s how you can access your default ringtones list.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Sounds & Haptics
  3. Tap Ringtone.
  4. Choose default or any other ringtone.

9. Switch Off The Bluetooth

Try to switch off the Bluetooth to make sure your iPhone 13 Pro is not connected to any accessories, such as speakers or Bluetooth headphones. You can turn it off by going to Settings > Bluetooth.

10. Disable LTE

Enabling LTE on your iPhone can impact the battery life, calls, text messages, voicemail, and cellular data if it’s not been certified by your carrier yet. It can be the reason why your iPhone 13 Pro is not ringing when a call comes in.

Steps to disable LTE

Select 3G.

13. Clean Speaker Holes

After you have tried all the troubleshooting steps, try to clean speaker holes if none of them worked. If you find dirt covers the speaker holes, you can clean it using a duster or toothpick. Please avoid using any liquid because it can enter the iPhone and damage the components.

14. Charging Trick

This trick will not resolve the problem, but it can help you find the right solution. The loudspeaker of the iPhone connects to the charging port cable. The idea of this trick is to check if the issue is associated with hardware or not.

  • Plug your iPhone in the USB port on your computer or a wall outlet for charging
  • Test your iPhone by calling it from the other device. Does it ring?
  • Now, unplug the lightning cable from the iPhone. Then call it again using a different device to check if it’s ringing or not.
  • If you hear a ringing sound when the iPhone is charged, but it doesn’t happen when it’s unplugged, likely it’s a hardware issue. The issue may occur on a lightning port that is connected to the speakers.

15. Update The Apps

If the issue comes when you are using specific apps, update the applications.

  • Open App Store
  • Tap on your account.
  • Check if there is an update for messaging apps you often use.
  • If you find the updates, tap the button next to the app name, and let the updating process complete.

16. Reset Network Settings

This method will reset all the settings related to cellular and WiFi, such as saved networks, WiFi passwords, VPN settings, etc. The process is not rassociated withconventional phone calls or SMS settings. However, if you have a problem with your iPhone 12 Pro not ringing when you receive a call from messaging apps, this can be pretty helpful. Messaging apps like WhatsApp, Skype, etc., may not work well if the Internet connection is slow. Here are the steps to reset network settings:

  3. Tap transfer or reset iPhone.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Tap Reset Network Settings.

  5. Tap Reset All Settings.
  6. A passcode is required.
  7. After you enter your passcode, tap Reset All Settings on a popup screen.

18. Erase IPhone

If you’ve tried all of the previous troubleshooting options and nothing has fixed the issue, your iPhone 13 Pro not ringing may be more than a small glitch. Try to reset your iPhone to its factory settings using the “Erase All Contents and Settings” feature. This method will remove all media, data, and settings, such as language setting, keyboard, etc. That’s why we advise you to back up your data beforehand.
