1. Close And Reopen The Health App

Closing and reopening the Health app can fix a potential software crash that has caused Health to stop working. First, open the app switcher, where you can view all the apps currently open on your iPhone.

If your iPhone has Face ID, swipe up from the bottom to the center of the screen and hold your finger there until the app switcher launches. If your iPhone doesn’t have Face ID, double-press the Home button.

Now that the app switcher is open, swipe Health up and off the top of the screen. It wouldn’t hurt to close your other apps too, just in case one of them has crashed. You’ll know your apps are closed when they no longer appear in the app switcher.

2. Turn on Motion & Fitness

For example, if your Health app is consistently showing zero for steps no matter how far you walk, the issue might be with a bug in the Health app or a hardware issue with the pedometer in your iPhone or Apple watch, if that’s what you are using. Try restarting the iPhone and any devices you’re pulling your step count from.

If your iPhone has Face ID, press and hold the side button and either volume button at the same time until slide to power off shows up on the screen. If your iPhone doesn’t have Face ID, press and hold the power button until slide to power off shows up on the screen.

Now, drag the red and white power icon from left to right. Your iPhone will shut down.

Wait about 20 seconds to give your iPhone a chance to completely shut down. Then, press and hold the side button (iPhones with Face ID) or the power button (iPhones without Face ID) until the Apple logo shows up on the screen.

4. Choose your favorite categories to track

If you don’t need all of the data that Health supplies you with, there’s no use jumping around from place to place within the app. You can add specific data points to the favorites tab on the main page of the app.

Open the Health app and tap the Summary tab.
Tap Edit next to Favorites.
To add or remove a category from your favorites, tap it. Categories with a blue star appear in your favorites.
When you’re finished, tap Done.
Your favorites show how you’re doing in each health category that day, like Mindful Minutes or Steps. To see more information about a category, tap it.

5. Add information about your health

Open the Health app and tap the Browse tab.
Tap a category, like Activity.
Tap a subcategory, like Steps.
Tap Add Data in the upper-right corner.
Enter the date, time, and data for that activity. When you’re finished, tap Add.

6. Choose which apps share information with Health

Open the Health app and tap the Summary tab. Tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner. Under Privacy, tap Apps. You can see apps that you already own that are compatible with Health. If you don’t see an app, it might not be compatible.
Tap an app and turn on the health categories that you want that app to track. If you’re using multiple apps to track different things, the Health app can keep it all in one place. Manage the data that’s added to Health app.
Apple Watch apps can also read and write Health data. You can manage them directly on your Apple Watch: Go to Settings > Health > Apps.

7. Know how your health changes over time

Open the Health app and tap the Summary tab. Scroll down to Highlights. Highlights show your Health over time, so you can see how you’re doing overall.
