iPhone home button not working after iOS 15 update is an important problem! For most iPhone models including iPhone SE 2020, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus, we use the Home Button all the time!

Use these tips to fix home button not working After iOS 15 Update

Recalibrate The Home Button

This is probably the simplest solution of all the ways to fix the iPhone home button not working after iOS 15 update, and it works for many. Follow these steps to recalibrate your Home button:

  1. Launch ANY app
  2. Hold down the Power Button
  3. When slide to power off appears, release the power button and hold down the home button
  4. Hold your home button down until the app closes, the screen flashes, and your home screen appears

Try your Home button again and see if it works. If not, repeat the above procedure once more

Clean The Home Button

One of the main reasons why the iPhone home button won’t work is because of debris, dirt, and dust, so what you should do here is simply clean the button.

Unfortunately, this tip can’t help if your iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 Home button isn’t working, because those devices don’t feature a mechanical button.

To do that you should use rubbing alcohol, and you can pour a few drops on the cotton swab, and clean the button. Also, the other option is to pour a drop or two on your finger, rub the button and then push the button around its corners.

Use a Virtual Home Button Instead!

You can create a virtual Home Button on your iPhone. Here is how you can do that:

  1. Launch Settings
  2. Tap on Accessibility
  3. Select Touch
  4. Tap on Assistive touch and turn it on
  5. Click on the icon that will show up in the bottom right corner
  6. Select Home
  7. Home button will be located in the bottom right corner
  8. If you want to move it to another position, tap and hold the finger on it, and drag the icon where you want.

Update iOS

If home button stopped working following an iOS update to your iPhone, check for any latest pending iOS upgrades and apply them to your device.

Go to Settings > General > Software Update and if an update is available, tap download and install and check if it solves your issue.

Home Button Repair

If none of the above tips have worked for you, it is definitely time to get the home button repaired!

If your iPhone is less than a year old, it might still be covered by Apple’s one-year warranty. That means you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar in your nearest Apple Store to have them repair your Home button for free.

Unfortunately, most iPhones with a physical Home button are more than a year old. But you can still pay for a repair from Apple or a third-party service provider.
