What to do if your Apple Card gets lost or stolen (2023)

Last Updated On May 19, 2023 by Dave Johnson

If your physical Apple Card gets lost or stolen, it’s essential to know the steps to take to prevent unauthorized use and request a replacement.

The Apple Card, available exclusively to iPhone users, is a virtual credit card issued by Goldman Sachs. The card is designed to be primarily used digitally through the Wallet app, although you can request a physical titanium card as well. The virtual and physical cards have separate card numbers. This distinction is important because it determines the steps you’ll need to take if your card gets lost or stolen.

Here are step-by-step instructions for what you should do if your Apple Card gets lost or stolen.

How to lock a participant’s titanium Apple Card

Locking a participant’s Apple Card refers to a situation where an Apple Card Family participant (either a co-owner or a participant under age 18) loses their physical Apple Card, and you, as the Apple Card Family organizer or co-owner, need to lock their card to prevent unauthorized use.

Here’s how to lock a participant’s Apple Card:

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap ‘Apple Card’.
  3. Tap the More button , then tap Card Details
  4. Tap the participant’s name.
Scroll down to Titanium Card and tap Lock Card.

This will prevent any use of the physical card until you unlock it again. Note that the participant can still use their digital Apple Card for transactions, including Apple Pay.
