How to fix AirPods Pro 2 not connecting to iPhone

Make sure you’re running the latest version of iOS

If you’ve never connected the Second generation AirPods Pro to your iPhone before, make sure that the your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Software Update.
  4. check which version of iOS you’re running, and tap Download and Install on the latest update if needed.

Troubleshoot your AirPod connection

There are a few simple steps you can try that will get your AirPods Pro 2 working properly most of the time.

  • Make sure your AirPods are charged. To be sure, place the AirPods in their case and connect it to a USB power source for 1-2 hours.
  • On the iPhone you want to connect to, make sure Bluetooth is turned on. You can open the Control Center by swiping down from the upper right corner of the screen on iPhone X or later or up from the bottom on iPhone 8 Plus or earlier, and make sure the Bluetooth icon is turned on (it should be blue). You can also check from the Bluetooth menu in your Settings app.
  • Restart the iPhone you are trying to connect it to. Often, just restarting the device can resolve a problem like this.

Reset your AirPods Pro 2

If none of those steps worked, you might need to reset your AirPods and pair them with your iPhone again.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Tap the info icon – the one that looks like an “i” inside a circle – next to your AirPods.
  4. Tap Forget this Device.
  5. Put the AirPods in the case, close the lid, and wait about 30 seconds.
  6. Open the lid after waiting.
  7. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light flashes amber a few times, followed by continuously flashing white.
  8. You should now be able to reconnect your AirPods.
