How to get notified about sounds in CarPlay

With Sound Recognition in CarPlay, you can have iPhone continuously listen for car horns, sirens, or baby crying, and recognize them using on-device intelligence. When these sounds are detected, a notification appears on the CarPlay touchscreen. It’s available with supported iPhone models, though you shouldn’t rely on it in high-risk or emergency situations.

Note: Sound Recognition in CarPlay is available with supported iPhone models. Don’t rely on Sound Recognition in circumstances where you may be harmed or injured, in high-risk or emergency situations, or for navigation. CarPlay isn’t available in all countries or regions.

  1. In CarPlay, open Settings and then tap Accessibility.
  2. Select Sound Recognition and turn on Sound Recognition.
  3. Turn on the sounds you want to be notified about.
