How to record and transcribe audio in Notes on iPhone

In the Notes app, you can record audio and have the spoken words transcribed to text. You can search the transcript, add the text to the note, or copy the text to other documents.

The transcript appears live as you record. You can also view a summary of an audio recording, and see transcripts of phone and FaceTime audio calls. You can take notes while recording, too, and pause or resume a recording.

Here’s how to record and transcribe audio in Notes on iPhone.

Note: Audio transcription works on iPhone 12 and later if your device language is English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, or Traditional Chinese.
