Why Does My iPhone 13 Pro Say No Service?

Your iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro may be saying No Service because of a problem with the cellphone carrier’s service plan, a hardware issue with the phone, or a misconfigured setting.

Service interruptions may be caused by a simple setting change, such as Airplane Mode or carrier settings. In a few cases, the iPhone needs to have its cellular settings updated through a software update from your cellular service provider. Less often, you need to reset or replace the phone’s SIM card. It’s also possible that there’s a problem with your cellular service plan.

In this article, I’ll explain why your iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro says searching or No Service and show you how to fix the issue.

iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro Searching or No Service, How-to Fix

Here’s how to fix your iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro when it has no service:

Make sure you’re within a coverage area

Before changing any iPhone settings or performing more time-consuming troubleshooting tasks, take a moment to consider your physical location. Are you in a remote location or somewhere you haven’t used your iPhone before? Is there a chance your carrier doesn’t offer coverage in this area?

If you’re deep inside a building, underground, or in a rural area, you may not have service in that location. Check for signal strength bars in the upper-right corner of the screen.

Toggle cellular data off and on again

Sometimes, especially when you are on the edge of a service area or you lost service and should be back in service, switching your cellular service off and then on again fixes the problem. You can do this by going to Settings > Cellular and ensure Cellular Data is on. If it’s on, toggle it off and back on.

Tip: Turning Airplane Mode on and off again accomplishes the same thing.

Restart your iPhone

Like turning Airplane Mode on and off, completely restarting the iPhone might wake your cellular service and return it to normal operation. You can do this by going to Settings > General > Shut Down.

Check that your carrier settings are up to date

. Carriers occasionally release updates that affect the device’s ability to connect to the cellular network. It’s possible your service might be affected by a new update you installed on your iPhone. Ensuring that these settings are up to date is important, especially if you’re struggling with no service problem on iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro. You can do this by going to Settings > General > About. Should an update be available, you’ll be able to do so from this screen. Note that iPhones generally prompt you when new carrier settings become available, but it never hurts to check manually just to be sure.

Take the SIM card out and put it back in

It’s possible the SIM card is not working properly, either because it isn’t seated correctly or is damaged. Inspect it for damage and gently clean it by blowing on it or wiping it with a cotton swab or cloth, then reinsert it. If your SIM card is damaged, you should contact your carrier for a new one. You should also ensure that the inserted SIM card works with your iPhone , especially if you transferred it from another device.

Use a SIM Tool or a straightened paper clip, to remove the SIM tray from the side of your iPhone 13. Test your SIM card in another phone to determine if the Searching or No Service issue is due to a fault in your iPhone or the SIM card itself.

Update your iPhones iOS

It’s possible a bug in your iOS has caused the Searching or No Service error. You can check for an iOS update by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Should a new version be available, tap Download and Install.

Reset Your Network Settings

The iPhone settings may have been corrupted in a way that prevents you from getting cellular service. Reset it back to the factory conditions. When you Reset the Network Settings, your iPhone 13 will reconnect with carrier network and probably resolve the no service issue. You can do this by going to settings > general > transfer or reset iPhone > reset > reset network settings.

Contact your carrier

If you still have no service on iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro, contact your cellular service provider and ask about any local outages, problems with your service plan, and if your device is blocked.
