With Apple Intelligence, you can use Live Translation to see incoming texts in other languages automatically translated to your preferred language in the Messages app. Because Live Translation relies on Apple-built models that run entirely on device, your personal conversations stay private.
It works with the languages you download. You can choose a different language for a conversation, view the original text along with the translation, or turn off Live Translation for the conversation.
Note: Apple Intelligence on iPadOS 27 or later is available on an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad models with M1 or later. Apple Intelligence is not available in all languages or regions. Usage limits may apply.*
For more information on Apple Intelligence and privacy, see Apple Intelligence and privacy.
