If there are several other devices nearby bearing the same name, then you are likely to experience some problem where your device cannot be uniquely identified. For instance, if you are in a room with many iPhone users around you, all of their iPhones will show up in the AirDrop list whenever you or your friend is trying to send a file. Since most of the iPhones appear with their default name ‘iPhone’, identifying your friends device can prove difficult. Thankfully, it’s easy to change your AirDrop name on iPhone.

How to change AirDrop name On iPhone

Follow these steps to know how you can easily change AirDrop name for your iPhone or iPad and make the name more personal and recognizable.

  1. Tap the Settings app from the home screen of your iPhone.
  2. Tap “General” from within the settings app.
  3. Tap about.
  4. Tap the “Name” tab.
  5. Tap the small “x” next to your device’s current name to delete it.
  6. Type a new name for your iPhone in the text field.
  7. Tap “Done” located at the bottom right hand corner of the display.

That’s how to change the name of your iPhone so you can recognize it easily when using AirDrop.
While you can choose any name of your choice, it is common for users to simply use a name like ‘Moses’s iPhone’ etc, so that it is easier for their friends to know which iPhone belongs to them in case they are getting more than one options on the AirDrop menu.
