When you find something special in the App Store, you can share a link to it or send it as a gift. From the app’s details in the App Store app on your iPad, you can choose a sharing option, or choose Gift App to give it to someone.
Note: Not all apps are available to send as gifts.
You can download fonts from the App Store app and use them in documents you create on iPad. You get an app containing fonts, then open the app to install them. You can manage your installed fonts later, too, and get other apps in the App Store.

To add an app to your iPad, you can download it from the App Store. When you download an app, you can choose to add it to both your Home Screen and App Library, or to App Library only.

Apps installed by default on your iPad are updated whenever you update iPadOS. Apps that you download from the App Store app are automatically updated by default, but you can manually update an app.
You can also turn off automatic app updates, and update apps one at a time or all at once. Updated apps show up below Updated Recently. And you can get apps and change settings and restrictions in the App Store.

Your purchase history includes free and paid apps, in-app purchases, subscriptions, music, and more, and you can view and redownload apps. You can narrow the results by date range, cost, or type, and if you’re the organizer of a Family Sharing group, by family member, too.

An app clip is a small part of an app that helps you do a task quickly, like rent a bike, pay for parking, or order food. You can discover App Clips in Safari, Maps, and Messages, or in the real world through QR codes and App Clip Codes, unique markers that take you to specific App Clips.
You can use Sign in with Apple and pay with Apple Pay in supported App Clips, and some let you see the full app. App Clips you’ve used are in App Library, and you can remove them, too.
In supported App Clips, you can use Sign in with Apple, then make a payment using Apple Pay.
With some App Clips, you can tap the banner at the top of the screen to see the full app.
Go to App Library, tap the search field at the top of the screen, then scroll down to the end of the alphabetical list.

When you’re in a Family Sharing group, you can share Apple subscriptions and eligible App Store subscriptions with other family members. If your group has purchase sharing turned on, any subscriptions shared with the group are billed to the organizer’s default payment method.
The organizer can also require children in the group to ask for approval before eligible purchases or free downloads. You can share an App Store subscription from Manage Subscriptions. Some subscriptions, like Apple Arcade, let all members of your family download and play, and each player gets a personalized account.
Note: Not all services are available in all countries or regions, and some selections are subject to content restrictions set in Screen Time. Age restrictions for Ask to Buy vary by country or region. In the United States, the family organizer can turn on Ask to Buy for any family member under age 18; for children under age 13, it’s on by default.

It’s up to you to choose which eligible App Store subscriptions you share with family members. To learn about the App Store, see our article, Get apps in the App Store.
If you don’t see Share with Family, the subscription isn’t eligible for sharing.
You can remove or delete some built-in apps from your iPad. If you remove an app from your Home Screen, it moves to App Library—it isn’t deleted—and you can still use it from there.
Deleting an app removes it and its data from your iPad, though any data stored in iCloud, like photos or documents, isn’t deleted. You can recover a deleted app later, too.

To block an app to prevent its use, you can use Screen Time settings. See Block apps, app downloads, websites, and purchases.

Deleting an app from your iPad removes both the app and its data.
If an app stores data in iCloud, like photos or documents you’ve saved through it, that data isn’t deleted when you delete the app. Available storage on your iPad may also take a moment to update afterward.
Note: Some Apple apps can be removed from the Home Screen but can’t be deleted from iPad. In the European Union, there may be other built-in apps you can delete.
If it’s still available, you can reinstall any app you’ve previously downloaded from the App Store.

If you see the Redownload button instead of Get or the price, you’ve already purchased this app before. Tap the Redownload button to download it again for free.
Purchases are made with the payment method associated with your Apple Account.

You can view and download eligible apps other family members purchased if you’re part of a Family Sharing group.
Note: You only see purchases made by family members if they choose to share their purchases. Once a family member leaves the family group, purchases made with Family Sharing may not be accessible.
The family organizer can review and approve eligible purchases made by other family members under a certain age.
