iOS 26

There are a ton of changes and new features in iOS 26, including major additions like the Liquid Glass design overhaul. We’ve covered a lot of the more notable updates already, but there are also some hidden iOS 26 features that you might have missed. Here are thirteen iOS 26 hidden features that are a little harder to miss.

Top Hidden Features in iOS 26

Copy Just Part of a Text Message

In iOS 26, you can copy just part of a text message, rather than having to copy the whole thing. It’s useful if someone sends you a web link, an address, or something else where you only need to copy part of what you’re sent.

To use the selective copy, long press on a text message and then tap on Select. From there, you can drag to choose exactly what you want to copy.

Save Recipes and Instructions to Reminders

With the new Apple Intelligence Siri Suggestions feature in the Reminders app, you can save ingredients and instructions for cooking in an easy-to-access list. To use the feature, find a recipe, select the text that you’re aiming for, and tap the Share Sheet.

From there, share it to the Reminders app and Siri Suggestions will parse what’s included and add items to your shopping list or write out a list of instructions that you need to follow for preparation.

It doesn’t work seamlessly with all recipes, but it can be used with recipes that you find on the web, in Apple News, and in other apps.

Choose a Default App for Files

You can change which app opens automatically for different file types like PDFs, documents, images, and more.

To set a default app for opening a file, launch the Files app and long press on a file. Tap on “Get Info” and then select the Always Open With option to choose an app.

If you just want to open a file in a different app one time, you can long press on it and choose the “Open With” option.

Easily Set a Custom Ringtone

Any MP3 or M4A that you have saved in the Files app can be set as a ringtone. Just open up the Files app, long press on the MP3, and then choose the Quick Look option.

From there, tap on the Share Sheet icon, tap More, and choose Use as Ringtone. The ringtone that you selected will be added to your list of Ringtones in the Sounds and Haptics menu.

You can use MP3 or M4A files, but the files have to be under 30 seconds in length. Prior to now, saving a ringtone required exporting it from GarageBand. You can find and save ringtones directly on the iPhone from a wide range of websites.

If you want to delete a ringtone that you added, open up Sound and Haptics in the Settings app, tap on Ringtones, swipe on the ringtone you want to remove, and then tap delete.

See Your Unsent Messages

In the Filters section of the Messages app, Apple added a new “Drafts” option that houses messages you’ve typed but haven’t sent. If you’ve started to write something and then stopped, you’ll see the unsent messages in the Drafts folder.

The Filter section in Messages can be accessed by tapping on the icon with three lines in the upper right corner of the app. You won’t see a Drafts section if you don’t have unsent messages.

Take Better Panoramas

There are under-the-hood improvements to panoramas in iOS 26, so if you’ve ever struggled to take one, the experience should be better now. You can move quicker when taking a panorama without ending up with a blurry mess.

Find Specific Videos

When you search for something specific in the Photos app, you’ll now see video results with a relevant video thumbnail that highlights the specific video frame with what you searched for. If you search for “cat jumping,” for example, you’ll see relevant video thumbnails that contain the specific frame where the cat jumps.

Tapping on the result will take you to that part of the video.

Search results with specific video frames make it easier to find the exact content that you’re after.

Get an Alert When Your iPhone Camera is Dirty

When your rear camera is dirty or smudged, your iPhone can send you an alert letting you know so you can clean it off.

This feature works on the iPhone 15 and later.

Match Your Home Screen Icons to Your iPhone Case

When choosing a tint color for your Home Screen icons, there’s now an option to match the icons to your case color. You’ll need an Apple MagSafe case for this feature to work.

Changing icon tint can be done by long pressing on the Home Screen, selecting Edit, and then tapping on Customize. Choose the Tinted option and then tap on the icon that looks like a phone case to select your case color.

You can also match your icons to your phone color by tapping on the phone icon below the color sliders.

See Event Details in the Photos App

You can see the details of events like concerts right in the Photos app. You’ll be able to see top songs from the artists, browse upcoming events, and more.

To use the feature, find a relevant photo from a concert or sporting event, and then tap on Info. There is indexing that needs to happen first, and it doesn’t work on all images.

Callback Reminders

If you miss a call, you can set a reminder to return it at a convenient time in the future. To do so, open up the Phone app, go to your recent calls, and swipe left across a missed call.

From there, tap on the blue clock icon and choose Remind Me in 1 Hour, Remind Me Tonight, Remind Me Tomorrow, or Remind Me Later. The Remind Me Later option lets you set a custom date and time.

Call reminders that you set up are available in the Reminders app.

Keep Audio in Headphones

iOS 26 has a setting that prevents audio from your AirPods from swapping over to connected devices like car speakers or Bluetooth speakers.

To turn the feature on, open up the Settings app, tap into the General section, tap on AirPlay and Continuity, and then toggle on Keep Audio in Headphones.

Swipe Back Gesture

In iOS 26, Apple tweaked the swipe-to-go-back gesture that’s available in most apps. You can now go back to the previous screen by swiping toward the right from anywhere on the display, instead of having to swipe from the edge of the display.

Is your iPhone keyboard not showing up, typing the wrong letters, or slow after updating to iOS 26? We’ll go through the iOS 26 keyboard issues users are facing and the corresponding solutions you can try.

1. iPhone Keyboard Isn’t Showing Up After iOS 26 Update

If the entire on-screen keyboard isn’t showing up on your iPhone when you need to type something, it’s probably because the cursor isn’t in a text field yet. Try tapping a text field or search box on your screen for the keyboard to appear.

If it’s a specific language that’s not showing up on your iPhone keyboard, it’s likely because you haven’t added the language yet.

To add a language to your keyboard, go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard. From the list, select the language and your preferred input method if needed, then tap Done.

2. iPhone Keyboard Typing the Wrong Letters and Words After iOS 26 Update

Almost everyone has had a text message needlessly autocorrected by their iPhone. But if you started facing this issue after updating to iOS 26, here’s what you should do.

Test Your iPhone Screen

If the on-screen keyboard seems to type on its own and input the wrong letters and words, the issue may lie with your iPhone screen. Test to see if your iPhone works normally when you’re not using the keyboard.

If your iPhone is also opening apps randomly when you’re not touching the screen at all, this is a problem known as “ghost touch.” You can try solutions such as cleaning your iPhone screen and replacing the screen protector to fix ghost touch on your iPhone.

But if the cause of ghost touch is damaged hardware—for example, you dropped your iPhone recently, and there are visible screen cracks—you probably need to replace your iPhone’s display. While we recommend getting it fixed by Apple, you have options if you want to fix your iPhone’s screen for cheap.

Check Your Text Replacement Setting

Let’s say you’re typing the phrase “I’m studying” in a message, but it autocorrects to “I’m napping” every time. This is probably caused by a text replacement setting.

The purpose of iPhone text replacement is to help people save time by completing phrases from preset abbreviations. However, it can also be used by a family or friend to set up a prank, hence the endless “correction.”

Head to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement. If there’s an unwanted phrase in the list, swipe left on it and tap Delete.

3. iPhone Keyboard Is Lagging After iOS 26 Update

If you’re typing swiftly on your iPhone keyboard but the text takes a while to show up on the screen, the cause might be a temporary iOS 26 glitch or an incorrect iPhone setting. Try the solutions below.

Reset the Keyboard Dictionary

Your iPhone’s keyboard dictionary doesn’t only autocorrect misspelled words. It also learns from what you type and provides predictive text accordingly.

You can try resetting the keyboard dictionary if your iPhone keyboard has been lagging since updating to iOS 26. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary to do so.

Review Your Touch Accommodations Settings in Accessibility

It’s also possible that the iOS 26 update changed accessibility settings that affect how sensitive the screen (including the on-screen keyboard) is to touch. Therefore, these settings may cause a delay between typing on the keyboard and the text actually appearing on the screen.

To remove this, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Touch Accommodations. Toggle off Hold Duration, Ignore Repeat, choose Off for Tap Assistance, and toggle off Touch Accommodations.

4. No Sound or Vibration When Typing on iPhone Keyboard After iOS 26 Update

By default, when you type on your iPhone keyboard, there should be a soft tapping sound. However, you can customize it to include haptic feedback for each key press in the Settings app. And if you don’t hear a sound while typing, you can check if it’s enabled here.

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Feedback and toggle on Sound and Haptic, depending on what you’d like.

If you still don’t feel a vibration when you type, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch and make sure Vibration is toggled on. Also, make sure you have Silent mode turned off on your iPhone.

  1. General Troubleshooting Methods to Fix iOS 26 Keyboard Issues

If your iPhone keyboard is still not working after going through the above troubleshooting methods, you can try a few generic solutions. First, restart your iPhone by turning it off and on again. However, if the on-screen keyboard is frozen, you may need to force restart your iPhone instead.

Secondly, go to Settings > General > Software Update to check if a newer version of iOS 26 is available for your device. Apple frequently rolls out updates that include bug fixes and performance improvements, which may help solve keyboard problems if it hasn’t been working right.

Similarly, if you’ve been using a third-party iPhone keyboard app, it’s best to update the iPhone app to get the latest bug fixes as well.

In my experience, I’ve noticed that several iPhone issues crop up from time to time. We hope our list of iOS 26 keyboard problems helped you find the relevant fixes quickly. However, if the issue persists, it’s best to contact Apple Support for further assistance.

You can use StandBy to turn your iPhone into a bedside clock, a photo frame, a display for viewing widgets or Live Activities in full screen, and more.

However, many iPhone users are having difficulty getting the StandBy feature to work properly after updating to iOS 26. If you’re experiencing a similar problem, you’ve come to the right place, as we’ll discuss a few troubleshooting steps you can follow if StandBy isn’t working on iOS 26.

1. Check if StandBy Is Enabled

Before we get into advanced troubleshooting methods, let’s start with a basic solution: making sure StandBy is enabled. If you haven’t enabled StandBy in your iPhone settings or accidentally turned it off, it won’t work.

Go to Settings > StandBy and make sure StandBy is turned on. If it’s already turned on, try turning it off and back on. Now, try using StandBy again. If it’s still not working, move on to the next solution.

2. Make Sure You’re Using StandBy Correctly

If StandBy is still not working on your iPhone, it could be because you’re not using it properly. To activate StandBy Mode on iOS 26, connect your iPhone to a charger and set it down on its side, keeping it stationary. Press the side button. You can now swipe left or right to switch between widgets, photos, and clocks. Swipe up or down to scroll between options for each of these views.

3. Use an MFi-Certified Charging Accessory

Check whether the USB-C cable or MagSafe charger you’re using to charge your iPhone is MFi-certified if you’re still unable to activate StandBy on iOS 26. That’s because if it’s not MFi-certified, you might occasionally get the This accessory may not be supported pop-up.

Although Apple doesn’t require you to use an MFi-certified charger, we highly recommend it, especially when StandBy fails to activate on your iPhone.

4. Restart Your iPhone

If StandBy is still not working on your iPhone, your last option is to restart your phone. Simply turning your iPhone off and turning it back on is one of the easiest ways to fix any software issue you could be facing with your device. Therefore, a simple restart is also a potential fix when StandBy isn’t working.

However, if you’re still out of luck after a reboot, you should contact Apple Support or make an Apple Store appointment at a Genius Bar for in-person assistance.

Enjoy StandBy on iOS 26 in All Its Glory

We hope one of these troubleshooting steps helped you finally get StandBy to work on your iPhone as intended. Take advantage of StandBy when your iPhone is simply lying on your desk.

Even when you’re not actively using your iPhone, iOS 26’s StandBy feature lets you quickly check any information that might be important or glance at the time without having to press any button or raise your iPhone. But that’s not to say the feature doesn’t have its fair share of annoying quirks.

Are you unable to download apps on your iPhone after iOS 26 update? There are several reasons your iPhone might not let you download any apps, from problems with your internet connection to a lack of storage on your device. Here are some solutions you can try if you can’t download apps after updating to iOS 26.

1. Test Your Internet Connection

For your iPhone to download apps from the App Store, it needs a working internet connection. Most of the time, you should connect to Wi-Fi, since cellular downloads use up your data allowance and often only let you download apps smaller than 200MB.

After connecting to Wi-Fi, test your internet connection by streaming a video on YouTube. If the connection is slow or unstable, toggle Wi-Fi off and back on from the Control Center. You can access this by swiping down from the top-right corner of your iPhone screen.

Problems with Wi-Fi can be caused by temporary service outages or local network hardware failure. You might want to power cycle your router and modem (waiting around 10 seconds between switching devices off and then on again) to rule out local network problems as a cause.

If you need to use mobile data to download apps instead, make sure you allow the App Store to use cellular data on your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular.
  2. Scroll down to the list of apps and turn on App Store.
  3. Then go to Settings > Apps > App Store, tap App Downloads and choose if you want your iPhone to ask permission before downloading apps over 200MB in size.

2. Disable Your VPN

VPNs are useful and almost certainly worth paying for, but they can cause all sorts of problems too. This could be a temporary problem with your chosen VPN provider or local server, but it could also be so-called “suspicious” activity that Apple has chosen to block. Sometimes, VPN providers that offer a kill switch to disable all internet traffic when the connection drops.

The easiest way to rule out your VPN as a cause is to disable it and try again. To do this, open your VPN provider’s app and disconnect. You can also try switching servers, to see if the problem is caused by your configuration.

Open the App Store and try downloading apps again. Don’t forget to enable your VPN again when you’re done troubleshooting!

3. Make Sure Your Have Enough Free Space

Internal iPhone storage is not expandable. You can’t download new apps on your iPhone if you’ve already filled up your device with photos, videos, music, and other content.

When this happens, an alert should pop up saying “Not Enough Storage.”

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to see how much free space you have and take a look at which apps are using the most. There are plenty of ways to create more free space on your iPhone if you need to, such as offloading apps, uploading photos to the cloud, or deleting junk that you no longer need. You can do all of this from the iPhone storage settings.

4. Add a payment method

You might need to have a valid payment method on file, even if the app that you want to download is free.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Payment & Shipping. You might be asked to sign in with your Apple Account.
  4. Tap Add Payment Method.
  5. Enter the payment method details, then tap Done.

If you’ve already added a payment method, it’s possible that the payment details on your account expired, so you should check if you need to update them.

5. Make Sure the Date and Time Are Set Correctly

You may encounter problems downloading apps on iOS 26 if the date and time aren’t set correctly for your time zone. An easy fix to this is to set the date and time automatically by going to Settings > General > Date & Time.

6. Turn Off Content and Privacy Restrictions

The content and privacy restrictions on an iPhone let you limit settings, apps, or features to keep the device safe for children. However, those same limitations explain why you can’t download new apps after iOS 26 update.

To edit your restrictions:

  1. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  2. If prompted, enter your Screen Time passcode, which may be different from the standard passcode you use to unlock your iPhone.
  3. Turn off all Content & Privacy Restrictions at the top of the screen or change the following setting:
    • Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases > Installing Apps.
    • Select Allow to enable installing apps.

7. Pause and Resume Your App Download

with pause and prioritize options
Sometimes, if your iPhone won’t download apps on iOS 26, all you need to do to fix it is pause the download, then resume it again. You can do this from the Home Screen on your device.

While an app is downloading, it should appear on the Home screen as a darkened app icon with a progress circle in the middle. Tap it to pause the download—causing a pause symbol to appear. Wait a few seconds, then tap it again to resume the download.

Alternatively, tap and hold on the app icon to reveal a quick-action menu. You can choose to Pause Download or Resume Download from this menu as well.

Alternatively, you have the option to Prioritize Download from the quick-action menu. This is a good idea if your iPhone is downloading other content as well, since it prioritizes this app above all other downloads.

8. Sign Out of the App Store, Then Sign In Again

Though problems downloading apps on your iPhone after iOS 26 update is likely a connectivity issue, signing out of App Store and then in again is also worth a shot. You can do this under Settings > [Your Name] > Media & Purchases by tapping the “Sign Out” button. This will sign you out of the App Store while leaving your main Apple account signed in.

You can then sign in and attempt to access the App Store again, using the same menu.

9. Restart Your iPhone

A quick restart can resolve any temporary glitches that may be preventing your iPhone from downloading apps on iOS 26. You can restart your iPhone by asking Siri to “restart my iPhone” which will power down and then power up your device.

Alternatively, press and hold the Side button with either Volume button. When prompted, slide to power off your iPhone.

Wait 30 seconds after it powers off before pressing the Side button again to restart it.

10. Delete the App, Then Download It Again

Sometimes a download becomes so corrupted that the only way to fix it is deleting the half-downlaoded app and downloading it again from scratch. If you never used the app before, there’s nothing to lose from doing this.

However, if you were trying to update an app rather than download it for the first time, deleting it might also delete any data you have saved in the app. You should make a backup of your iPhone before deleting apps to protect your data.

When you want to delete an app from your iPhone, tap and hold the app icon on the Home Screen. In the quick-action menu that appears, tap Remove App, tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.

After deleting an app, restart your iPhone and download it again from the App Store.

11. Consider Resetting Network Settings

If you’ve tried everything and you still can’t update apps after iOS 26 update, consider resetting your network settings. Doing this will restore settings like DNS and proxy configurations to factory defaults, and you’ll also lose all of your saved Wi-Fi credentials for any wireless networks you have added to your device.

If you’re sure you want to do this, head to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset and pick “Reset Network Settings” from the list of options that appear. Confirm your choice and wait for the reset to complete.

The first thing you’ll probably want to do is head to Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to your local wireless network. You can then try downloading apps again.

Conclusion

By now, you should be able to download as many apps as you want. If your iPhone still won’t download apps from the App Store on iOS 26, contact Apple Support for more help.

The built-in QR code scanner is one of the best quality-of-life features of your iPhone. You can access information, make payments, join Wi-Fi networks, and more with a simple scan.

However, users have complained that the QR code scanner feature doesn’t recognize or read the codes correctly after updating their iPhones to iOS 26. This can be frustrating, especially when you urgently need to access the content within the code. Before you give up, here are some fixes you can try to get your QR code scanner to work again.

1. Check if the QR Code Scanner Is Enabled

Usually, pointing your iPhone’s camera at the QR code does the trick. However, if that doesn’t work, there’s a chance the iOS 26 update disabled QR code scanning in the Camera app. Here’s how to enable the QR code scanner on iOS 26:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap Camera.
  3. Toggle on the switch next to Scan QR Codes.

2. Ensure Your Camera Is in Photo Mode

The QR code scanner on your iPhone only works when the camera is set to Photo mode. If you’ve mistakenly switched to Video, Portrait, Pano, or any other camera mode, the QR code scanner might not work as expected. So, swipe left or right in the Camera app to switch back to Photo mode. Then, point the camera at the QR code and try to scan it again.

3. Position Your Camera Properly When Scanning

For a quick and successful scan, make sure the QR code is positioned within the frame of your camera. Avoid scanning at steep angles, and try to keep the QR code parallel to your device. Also, ensure the QR code isn’t wrinkled, obscured, or damaged in any way, as this can prevent a successful scan.

4. Move Into Better Lighting

Good lighting is essential for any camera function, and the QR code scanner is no exception. A well-lit environment makes it easier for the camera to recognize and read the QR code. If you’re in a dimly lit room or area, move to a brighter spot or shine some light on the QR code to improve visibility.

5. Clean Your Camera Lens

A smudged or dirty camera lens can make it difficult for the iPhone camera to read the QR code. So, if you are still having trouble scanning the QR code on your iPhone, gently wipe your camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure it’s clean. Avoid using harsh or abrasive materials that might scratch the lens. If necessary, slightly dampen the cloth with water to remove stubborn smudges.

6. Relaunch the Camera App

It’s possible that a minor iOS 26 glitch is causing your QR code scanner to malfunction. The quickest fix for this is to simply close the Camera app and relaunch it. To do this, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then swipe up on the Camera app to close it. Wait for a few seconds, then reopen the Camera app and try to scan the QR code again.

7. Add Code Scanner to Control Center

If you’re still having trouble using your iPhone Camera app to scan the QR code, you can add Apple’s built-in Code Scanner directly to the Control Center for easy access. This built-in feature works separately from the Camera app and can sometimes bypass issues that you might encounter while using the Camera app.

Here’s how to add the Code Scanner to the Control Center:

  1. Open Control Center by swiping down from the top-right of your screen.
  2. Touch and hold the background of the screen, then tap Add a Control.
  3. In the Control Center gallery, tap Scan Code, then tap anywhere on the screen to return to Control Center, then tap the Code Scanner icon to scan the QR code.

When scanning in a dark or dimly lit area, tap the Flashlight icon at the bottom of the screen to turn on your iPhone’s camera flash.

8. Restart Your iPhone

If your iPhone still isn’t scanning QR Codes on iOS 26, try restarting your phone. Sometimes, minor system glitches can cause certain features, like the QR code scanner, to malfunction. Restarting your iPhone can clear these glitches and get everything running smoothly again. Simply turn off your device and then turn it back on.

9. Update Your iPhone

Apple periodically releases software updates, including bug fixes that can clear any operating system glitches. A bug in the iOS 26 version you are running may be causing issues with your QR code scanner, and an update will fix this.

To update your iPhone, head to Settings > General > Software Update to see if there is any available update. If there’s a new iOS version available, tap Update Now. Ensure you connect to a strong Wi-Fi network and that your iPhone is sufficiently charged before starting the update.

10. Check Out Third-Party QR Code Scanners

If your iPhone built-in QR code scanner still doesn’t work on iOS 26 after trying all these fixes, you should consider downloading a third-party QR code reader from the App Store. Many options, both free and paid, offer a wider range of capabilities compared to the built-in QR scanner.

Popular iOS third-party QR code reader apps include QR Code & Barcode Scanner by TeaCapps, Scan Shot by Scanner App PDF Tool, and CamScanner by INSTIG.

Decode QR Codes on iOS 26 Without Issues

QR codes have become a great way to access information with a simple scan. If you’ve tried all our fixes and still can’t get your iPhone QR code scanner to work on iOS 26, you can always take a picture and scan the QR code with your Photos app.

When you open an image in Photos, you’ll notice a tiny Live Text icon in the bottom-right corner of the image when it recognizes a QR code. Also, remember to contact Apple Support or visit your local Apple Store for in-house repairs if you suspect hardware damage to be the cause of the issue.

It’s easy to back up your iPhone. So easy, in fact, that your iPhone normally backs up automatically, so you don’t have to do anything. However, this doesn’t always go according to plan; some users have complained that their iPhone can’t back up to iCloud after iOS 26 update.

Irrespective of the exact cause, you don’t have to do anything too complicated to get your iPhone backing up to iCloud again. You just need to work out what the problem is first, and we’re here to help.

Here is how to fix the problem if your iPhone can’t back up to iCloud after iOS 26 update.

1. Check Your iCloud Settings

In order to back up your iPhone to iCloud on iOS 26, you first have to make sure you have the feature switched on. Because if you haven’t enabled it, automatic iCloud backups simply won’t happen. You’ll have to back up your iPhone using a computer instead.

To switch on iCloud backups, you should do the following:

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap your name.
  2. Tap iCloud.
  3. Scroll down and tap iCloud Backup.
  4. Turn on the switch next to Back Up This iPhone.

By doing this, you’ll switch automatic iCloud backups on. As such, any time your iPhone is connected to power, locked and on Wi-Fi, it will automatically back up whatever new data you have to iCloud.

If you want to back up your iPhone immediately, tap Back Up Now,.

Depending on how much data you have, or if this is your first time backing up to iCloud, the backup process could take a few minutes or an hour. Check below the Back Up Now button to see the exact time and date your phone was last backed up.

2. Check Your Wi-Fi Connection

As mentioned, you have to connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network to back up to iCloud. If you are not connected to the internet, you may see a message that says “Your Last Backup Couldn’t be Completed.” Here’s what you can do:

  • Open the Settings app, then tap Wi-Fi to make sure that you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Try to back up on another Wi-Fi network.

If your iCloud backup is taking longer than expected to complete, leave your iPhone connected to power and Wi-Fi for 24 hours

3. Make Sure You Have Enough iCloud Storage

Unsurprisingly, iPhone backups occupy your iCloud storage allotment. Therefore, if you don’t have enough iCloud storage space, backups will run into problems. You might see this message on your iPhone: “This iPhone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available.”

Every iCloud account gets 5GB for free. But most people have more than 5GB of data on their phone — or they have more than one iOS device that needs backing up. Hence, 5GB just isn’t enough space. And maybe one day Apple will change its free tier to give us more data and make backing up easier for everyone. But until then, we need to do some calculations to optimize our iCloud accounts.

To figure out exactly how much iCloud space your backup file will take:

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap your name.
  2. Tap iCloud. At the top, you can check how much iCloud storage you’ve used.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Tap Backups, then tap your iPhone. Next Backup Size should show you the size of the next backup. It might take a few minutes for your device to calculate Next Backup Size.

If you haven’t backed up your iPhone to iCloud before or in a long time, the Next Backup Size will be a pretty large amount of data. Obviously, if it’s more than 5GB, you must either buy more storage or adjust what you’re backing up.

Lower on the screen under Next Backup Size is a list where you can Choose Data to Back Up. This list will have apps and how much data each has to back up. The list goes from what takes up the most space to the least. If you just need a slightly smaller backup file, uncheck larger data items from the list if you don’t mind whether or not they’re backed up.

If all you wanted to back up was your camera roll, the only setting you’d need to toggle would be iCloud Photos. Besides Photos, there is a list of every other iCloud-enabled app on your iPhone, starting with Apple’s own apps

If you don’t want to turn off apps, buy more iCloud storage with iCloud Plus. Apple does offer six price tiers for storage: the free 5GB, $0.99-per-month 50GB, $3.49-per-month 200GB, $11.99-per-month 2TB, $34.99-per-month 6TB, or $69.99-per-month 12TB per month plans. (Note, Apple doesn’t have annual pricing.)

5. Check iCloud Status

Believe it or not, Apple’s iCloud servers can sometimes go down. This means that no matter what you do you won’t be able to back up your iPhone to iCloud.

If you suspect a problem, you can quickly check the status of the iCloud servers by going to Apple’s System Status page.

Here, look for iCloud Backup. If you see a green light next to it, everything is working as it should. In other words, your backup issue is due to a problem on your end.

6. Sign Out of iCloud

You can sometimes solve iOS 26 backup issues by signing out of your iCloud account, then signing back in. This solves problems related to verification issues.

Here’s how to sign out and back in:

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap your name.
  2. Scroll down and press Sign Out.
  3. Select Sign Out But Don’t Erase.
  4. Tap Continue.
  5. Select Continue Anyway when prompted.

To sign back in, you have to tap Sign in to your iPhone. From here, you should enter your Apple account email address and password. If you have a Mac or other Apple device that’s connected to your Apple account, you’ll get a verification code on it. You need to enter this on your iPhone, then input your iPhone’s passcode.

Once you’ve signed back in, you should try connecting your iPhone to Wi-Fi and a power source. Hopefully, it will begin backing up to iCloud once locked. You can also try leaving it connected overnight, so that the backup has enough time to finish.

7. Restart Your iPhone

Next, you can try restarting your iPhone. This is a simple action, but it resets your iPhone’s temporary memory. By doing this, you can sometimes get your iPhone to back up properly again.

You can restart your iPhone by doing the following:

  1. Hold the Side button and either Volume button. Keep it held until the slide to power off slider appears.
  2. Swipe right on the power off slider.
  3. After shutdown, hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears to start up again.

8. Reset Settings

If a restart doesn’t fix your iPhone backup problems on iOS 26, you should try resetting all settings. This won’t erase your data, but it will erase preferences like your saved Wi-Fi passwords and all phone settings.

It’s a bit of a hassle to change all this back, but because something might interfere with the backup process, it’s worth trying at this point:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Scroll down and press Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Select Reset.
  5. Select Reset All Settings.

9. Update iOS

It’s possible that some kind of software bug is preventing your iPhone from backing up to iCloud. Accordingly, you should update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS 26, if a new one is available.

Here’s how you can update:

  1. Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select General.
  4. Tap Software Update.
  5. If an update is available, tap Update Now.
  6. If prompted, enter your passcode.

General iPhone Maintenance Tips

At least one of the steps above should be enough to help you when your iPhone won’t back up to iCloud after iOS 26 update.

However, even if you solve your problem, it’s always a good idea to regularly perform basic iPhone maintenance. By keeping your iPhone in good working order, you’ll be less likely to encounter such problems as backup failure in the future.

Sometimes an iOS glitch might be preventing your iPhone from displaying contacts, an a simple restart may get rid of the minor issues you’re facing. Simply turn your iPhone off it back on. Once your iPhone is back up and running, confirm if your contacts have been restored. If not, move on to the next solution.

2. Resync Your Contacts With iCloud

If contacts are still missing on your iPhone, try resyncing your Contacts app with iCloud. We’ll do this by disabling iCloud access to Contacts and then re-enabling it again. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on your name at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap iCloud.
  4. Tap See All.
  5. Toggle off Contacts.
  6. Select Keep on My iPhone to save copies of synced contacts to your iPhone. You can also select Delete from My iPhone if you want. Don’t worry; this option doesn’t make your contacts disappear.
  7. Re-enable Contacts again. And if your iPhone asks to merge existing contacts, select Merge.

After that, give your device a few minutes, then check to see if your contacts have been restored. If you’re still facing problems, read on for more solutions.

3. Show All Contacts in Your Phone App

Contacts might not show up on your iPhone because you have hidden some of them. You may not know this, but your iPhone usually places your contacts in groups based on your connected accounts. To see all your contacts, no matter their group, you need to ensure all groups are visible.

So, follow these steps to show hidden contact groups:

  1. Open the Phone app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap All Contacts at the top to view all your saved contacts. If you don’t see All Contacts button, tap back button.

If some contacts from a particular account weren’t showing up on your iPhone after iOS 26 update, this should fix the issue. However, read on if you still don’t see all your contacts.

4. Add All Your Accounts to Your iPhone

If you have several accounts that you use, chances are contacts might be saved across them. To fix this, you need to add all your accounts to your iPhone to ensure you have access to all your contacts. So, follow these steps to add an account to your iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and select Apps.
  3. Tap Contacts.

  5. Tap Add Account, select the type of account, and log in using your credentials.

After successful login, the account will appear under Settings > Apps > Contacts > Contact Accounts.

If you don’t see any contacts from the newly added account, follow the steps in the next tip to ensure contact visibility.

5. Modify Your Contact Account Settings

Your Accounts settings also affect the visibility of your contacts. You need to ensure that all your connected accounts have Contacts sync enabled. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Settings app on you’re iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap Apps.
  3. Tap Contacts.
  4. Tap Contact Accounts. You will see all your connected accounts listed here.
  5. Tap each account and ensure Contacts is toggled on.

If contacts from one of your connected accounts weren’t showing up on your iPhone, this should help fix the issue.

Additionally, you can try disabling and enabling Short Name on your iPhone. While this feature is handy to ensure more names fit on the screen, it can sometimes be problematic. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Contacts > Short Name. Disable Short Name, then wait about 15 seconds then turn it on.

6. Rebuild Your iPhone Contacts

Another way to restore contacts that disappeared after iOS 26 update is by force rebuilding them. To do this, you’ll have to edit one of your contacts first, then restart your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. First, select any visible contact from the Phone app and select Edit in the top right.
  2. Add some new details—they don’t have to be accurate. You can add a fake email, address, note, or anything.
  3. Once done, tap Done in the top right and then restart your iPhone.

When your iPhone powers on, it will have to rebuild all the contact names and details. Once your iPhone restores all the contacts, you can delete the fake information you added to the contact above. Check if your contacts have been restored after a few minutes. If this doesn’t solve your issue, try data recovery tools.

7. Recover Lost Data Using iCloud or Data Recovery Tools

Before you try third-party data recovery tools, we advise using iCloud first.

  1. Go to icloud.com/contacts, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
  2. Click the App Launcher button in the toolbar, then click Data Recovery.
  3. Click Restore Contacts. Available versions are listed by the date and time they were archived.
  4. To the right of the version you want to restore, click Restore.

There may be more versions than can be displayed. Scroll to see them all.

Note: Wait until iCloud finishes restoring your contacts before you change them. During the restore process, any changes you make aren’t saved

Tip: If you recently deleted a contact either from iCloud.com or your iPhone, it may take up to 24 hours for the archive to appear.

If that doesn’t work, you can try using third-party data recovery tools to restore your contacts. There are a variety of affordable tools on the market for the job.

8. Seek the Help of Apple Support

If all else fails or you don’t want to spend money on third-party data recovery tools, you can get tech support with the Apple Support app for more assistance.

Alternatively, you can reach out to them via Apple’s support website. Either way, a certified expert should help sort out the issue in more ways than we could.

In summary, you could restart your iPhone, resync with iCloud, show all contacts in your Phone app, add all accounts to your iPhone, modify account settings, or force rebuild your contacts.

If none of these solutions work for you, you can try restoring lost contacts from your iCloud backups. If that fails, make sure to contact Apple’s support team for further help. Using third-party data recovery tools should be your last resort, as you will certainly have to pay for it. Hopefully, one of the free methods works for you.

  • Black screens might appear if your iPhone overheats, encounters a major error, or the screen itself breaks.
  • To fix iPhone black screen on iOS 26, you should first plug your phone into a charger to make sure that it isn’t simply out of battery.
  • If you’re lucky, a force restart may be all you need to fix your iPhone black screen issue. Otherwise, you’ll need a computer.
  • If Find My is enabled, or you’re connecting your iPhone to a computer for the first time, you cannot restore it using Finder or the Apple Devices app.
  • If software fixes fail, physical damage might be the culprit. Take your iPhone to Apple or an authorized service provider to diagnose and resolve hardware issues.

are you facing the black screen of death after iOS 26 update? The black screen of death occurs when an iPhone is completely unresponsive. Sometimes, you’ll hear alerts and feel vibrations, but you won’t be able to interact with your phone. Although physical damage is often the culprit, you shouldn’t rule out system glitches.

Luckily, there are ways to fix nearly every “Black Screen of Death” glitch on your iPhone. Depending on the problem, you might just need to leave the iPhone alone for a while, or plug it into your computer.

Here’s what to do if your iPhone has the black screen of death after updating to iOS 26, and some tips for preventing black screens in the future.

How to fix iOS 26 black screen

1. Charge your iPhone

The first thing you should do to fix iOS 26 black screen is to check that your iPhone’s battery isn’t dead. When you try to interact with an uncharged iPhone, it’ll usually flash an empty battery icon. But if the battery’s been totally drained, the screen might go completely blank.

Plug your iPhone into a working charger and leave it for at least an hour. If you come back and it still showing a black screen, then you can move onto the next steps.

Quick tip: You should also feel the back of your iPhone, without its case. If it’s incredibly hot, your iPhone might be overheating and will need to cool down before you can use it again. Leave it in a cool area for a while.

2. Force Restart Your iPhone

The next thing you should do when encountering the black screen on iOS 26 is force restarting your iPhone. This is different from a regular reboot, and it’s useful when you can’t shut your iPhone down normally.

Force restarting requires a combination of button presses and can take a few tries since you’ll need to press each button quickly. Quickly press the volume up button, then the volume down button, and then press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo appear.

3. Restore Your iPhone With Apple Devices or Finder

If your iPhone screen is still black even after you’ve tried force restarting it, you’ll need to factory reset it. You can do this using the Apple Devices app for Windows or Finder on macOS.

Restoring your iPhone with the Apple Devices app or Finder will erase all its data and bring it to factory settings. So, only try this if you have a recent backup so that you don’t lose all your data.

Note that this method will only work if you’ve connected your iPhone to Apple Devices or Finder before. That’s because when you connect your iPhone to a computer for the first time, you’ll get an alert on your iPhone (and your computer), prompting you to trust the device.

You can’t tap Trust on an iPhone showing a black screen, so you’ll have to hard reset your iPhone using the recovery or DFU mode, which we’ll discuss later.

Additionally, you can only proceed with these steps if you have Find My disabled on your iPhone. Otherwise, you’ll get an alert message prompting you to turn off Find My during the process. In this case, you’ll need to disable the Find My feature from iCloud and erase your iPhone remotely.

As long as you meet the above requirements, you’re all set. Simply connect your iPhone to your PC or Mac using a USB cable. Launch the Apple Devices app or Finder, and follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Click [Your Name]’s iPhone under the Locations header on the sidebar. You can skip this step if you’re using Apple Devices.
  2. Head to the General tab and click Restore iPhone on the right.
  3. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring your iPhone, click Back Up.
  4. Next, click Restore when you get a confirmation pop-up.

The process may take several minutes to complete. So, be patient. Once it’s done, you can restore your iPhone from a backup.

4. Use Recovery Mode to Factory Reset Your iPhone

Recovery mode is a feature that lets you connect your iPhone to a computer so the computer can repair it. It usually does this by installing a fresh version of iOS, the software that your phone runs on.

Entering recovery mode on your iPhone requires you to force restart your device once you connect it to your computer and launch Apple Devices or Finder.

Quickly press and release the Volume Up button. Then, repeat the same with the Volume Down button. Finally, press and hold the Side button until you see the Recovery Mode screen.

The Apple Devices app or Finder will now show a pop-up message indicating that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode, after which you can choose to Update or Restore your device.

5. Take Your iPhone to Apple

If none of these solutions work, the black screen of death is likely due to physical damage or other hardware issues. In that case, you must contact Apple Support or take your iPhone to a nearby Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. It’s easy to make an Apple Store appointment at a Genius Bar.

Remember that Apple’s standard one-year warranty doesn’t cover replacements or repairs for damaged screens. So, unless you’ve spent money on an AppleCare extended warranty plan, you’ll have to pay a fee to get your iPhone serviced.

How to prevent black screens on your iPhone in the future

Hitting an unresponsive black screen can be scary, especially if your iPhone plays a critical role in your job or social life. So once you’ve fixed the iOS 26 black screen issue, take steps to make sure that it doesn’t come back.

Uninstall glitchy apps

If the black screens started appearing on your iPhone after you installed a certain app, the two might be connected.

Uninstall any apps you’ve downloaded recently and continue using your phone. If the black screens stop happening, you know what caused it.

Keep your iPhone at a normal temperature

Despite its price, the iPhone is a delicate device that needs to be handled carefully. Obviously, this means that you shouldn’t drop it or smother it in honey. But it also means that you need to keep track of its temperature.

An iPhone that gets too hot or too cold will shut down and give you a black screen — worst case scenario, your battery might short out permanently. This can be a big problem if you’re trying to run multiple high-performance apps at once, or have your iPhone in a thick case that traps heat.

Apple recommends storing your iPhone in areas where the temperature ranges from -4º to 113º F (or -20º and 45º C).

In some cases, your iPhone might freeze and show a warning message telling you to let it cool down. If you see this, move to a cooler area and leave your iPhone alone for a while.

Factory reset your iPhone

If you keep hitting black screens despite uninstalling recent apps, there might be an issue with your version of iOS 26. You can put the iPhone into recovery mode, like we described earlier, or you can factory reset it.

Factory resetting an iPhone will erase all of its data, and return the phone to the state it was in when you bought it. It’s an extreme but incredibly useful way to fix major glitches.

Important: Be sure to back up your personal data before performing a factory reset.
To factory reset your iPhone, open the Settings app and tap General, then Transfer or Reset iPhone. On the screen that appears, select Erase All Content and Settings.

Although the black screen on iOS 26 can be an immediate cause for concern, it’s worth trying a few software fixes before seeking professional help, especially if you haven’t physically damaged your iPhone. However, in case of hardware issues, you have no choice but to contact Apple or a third-party service provider for expert assistance.

  • An iPhone that keeps restarting after iOS 26 update is a serious but uncommon problem.
  • If you can, back up your iPhone’s data to iCloud or your computer so you don’t lose all your personal data if catastrophe strikes.
  • Here are the most common troubleshooting steps you can try to fix an iPhone that keeps restarting after iOS 26 update.

Does your iPhone keep restarting after iOS 26 update? An iPhone that is stuck in a restart loop is unusable. You see the black screen with the wheel in the middle, but as soon as your iPhone turns on, it turns back off on it’s own.

If your iPhone keeps crashing after upgrading to iOS 26, don’t worry, there are some simple steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Why Does My iPhone Keep Restarting on iOS 26?

Your iPhone keep restarting on iOS 26 because of a software problem. I decided to write this article after a friend messaged me asking for help. His iPhone began restarting randomly after he updated to iOS 26. This problem isn’t your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong.

If you’re seeing the black screen with the white wheel in the middle of your iPhone, or if your iPhone just keeps restarting, you’re in the right place. We’ll start with the simplest fixes and get more complicated as we go.

Back up your iPhone

The first thing you should do if your iPhone keeps crashing after iOS 26 update is to back up your device. If your iPhone is continuously restarting so frequently that it’s not usable at all, this step may not apply to you. But if you can, back up your iPhone to iCloud or your computer because, if your phone’s hardware is failing, you might not get many more chances to safeguard your data and could lose everything stored on your iPhone.

How to fix iPhone keeps restarting after iOS 26 update

Force-restart your iPhone

If your iPhone is stuck in a loop of endless restarts after iOS 26 update, you might be able to break the cycle by performing a hard reset. Press and quickly release the volume up button, then quickly press and release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. Release the Side button when the Apple logo appears on the screen.

Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS 26 version

It’s possible that a critical bug or some other incompatibility in your current version of iOS 26 is causing your iPhone to keep restarting. Luckily, Apple releases bugs for software issues all the time, and this problem may have been resolved by the time you read this article! To check if a new iOS 26 update is available, go to Settings and then tap General. Tap Software Update. If there’s an update available, install it.

Determine If An App Is Causing Your iPhone To Restart

It’s very rare for an app to cause an iPhone to restart or turn on and off repeatedly. For the most part, the software on your iPhone is shielded from problem apps. That being said, there are over 1.9 million apps in the App Store and they’re not all perfect.

If you installed an app just before your iPhone entered a restart loop, uninstall that app and see if the problem resolves itself.

If not, you can still check a log that your iPhone generates to see if there’s an easy-to-spot problem. Open the Settings app and then tap Privacy & Security. Tap Analytics & Improvements and then tap Analytics Data. Here you’ll see a long list of reports. They’re not especially easy to read, but you should scan the most recent reports to see if a specific app is mentioned more than once. If so, it might be causing critical errors. Uninstall the app and see if that solves your problem.

Even if you don’t have any leads on a problematic app, you should still make sure they’re all up to date. Open the App Store app and tap your account icon at the upper-right. If any apps require an update, you should see a section called Available Updates. Tap Update All.

Reset all your settings

Your iPhone manages a lot of settings — everything from WiFi passwords and network configurations to location and privacy settings. While it’s not likely any of these settings are causing your iPhone to randomly restart, it’s a possibility.

The most likely culprit is your network settings, so you should reset that first and see if it solves your problem. Open the Settings app and then tap General. Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone, followed by Reset. Finally, tap Reset Network Settings and confirm you want to do this.

If that doesn’t solve your problem, then you can come back to the Reset menu and choose Reset All Settings. This will erase a broader range of personalized settings, so save it for a close-to-last resort.

Reset your iPhone to factory conditions

If absolutely nothing has made your iPhone stop restarting, you’re down to your final option before contacting Apple for customer support: Reset the iPhone to its factory conditions, erasing all apps and data stored on it. If the problem is caused by any sort of software glitch, this will fix your iPhone.

When you factory reset your iPhone, remember not to let iOS automatically restore your apps and data right away. Start with a “factory fresh” iPhone and see if the restarting problem is fixed. If it is, you might try to restore your data. If the problem returns, you’ll need to factory reset your iPhone and then manually reinstall apps from scratch — do not restore from a backup, because the glitch causing the problem is somewhere in your data. You’ll need to start fresh.

Contact Apple for customer support

If you’ve tried all these troubleshooting steps and your iPhone still keeps restarting on iOS 26, it’s likely the problem is not software related, but you have a hardware problem. That’s not something you can solve on your own, so you should contact Apple’s customer support and see if the phone needs to be serviced or replaced.

You can also visit your local Apple Store to get help. If you choose to do so, make sure you have an appointment with the Genius Bar so you don’t have to wait in line for long.

iPhone: Not Restarting Any More!

By this point, I hope we’ve fixed the problem that caused your iPhone to keep restarting after updating to iOS 26. I’d like to hear your experience in the comments section below, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Did you update your iPhone to iOS 26 and now your apps keeps crashing?

So, why are your iPhone apps suddenly crashing on iOS 26? There are many reasons why you may be experiencing this problem. Because of this, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for fixing crashing iPhone apps on iOS 26. However, with a bit of troubleshooting, you’ll be able to get back to your favorite apps and games no time. Let’s look at the solutions you can apply when your apps keep closing on your iPhone after iOS 26 update.

1. Check Your Internet Connection

If your app requires an internet connection to function, poor Wi-Fi or hotspot connection may cause app to crash on your iPhone repeatedly. You can test whether your internet is functional with a simple Google search on the Safari app and loading some web pages.

To solve Wi-Fi connection problems on your iPhone, try to restart your router, connect to a different Wi-Fi network, or apply these solutions if your iPhone’s hotspot isn’t working.

2. Charge Your iPhone

If you’re playing a multiplayer game with high-quality graphics, yet there’s only a battery level of 10 percent left on your iPhone, your app might close abruptly because your device is struggling to provide enough power to support it.

If it’s an urgent case, quickly plugging in your iPhone to charge it may temporarily prevent the app from crashing again. However, it’s not advisable to frequently charge your iPhone this way.

Heavy usage of your iPhone while charging will likely result in overheating. This might cause your iPhone to lag and close apps. It’s also bad practice if you want to maintain your iPhone’s battery health.

3. Close and Relaunch the App

Even if an app closes abruptly on your iPhone, it may still be open in the background, albeit unresponsive. When you re-open the app from the App Switcher, it may only display a blank screen and crash once more.

In this case, try exiting the app completely before relaunching it. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to launch the App Switcher, swipe left or right to find the opened app, and swipe up to close it. Then, head to your Home Screen to relaunch the app.

4. Update the App

Your apps may be crushing on your iPhone because they are not optimized to work with iOS 26. Thankfully, developers usually release app updates after iOS updates to fix bugs and patch other performance issues. When your apps keep crashing on iOS 26, updating them may just be the trick to solving the problem.

To quickly check whether a specific app has an update, go to the App Store and search for the app. If an update is available, you’ll see an Update button instead of the usual Open button. Tap on Update button to update the app.

5. Update Your iPhone

Another possible reason why your iPhone apps keep crashing on iOS 26 is due to a software glitch. This is especially true if native iOS app is crashing. Simply update your iPhone’s software to fix the problem.

Go to Settings > General > Software Update to see if an update is available for your device. If there is a pending update, tap Update Now and follow the onscreen instructions.

6. Restart Your iPhone

The next fix to try when your iPhone apps keep crashing on iOS 26 is to reboot your phone. It’s easy to do: just press and hold the side button and either volume button until Slide To Power Off slider appears.

Drag the slider from left to right to turn off your iPhone. Wait 15 seconds or so, until your iPhone has shut all the way off, and then turn your iPhone back on by holding the side button down until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Try opening an app once your iPhone has fully restarted.

7. Remove and Reinstall the App

If only one or two of your iPhone apps keep crashing after iOS 26 update, your next course of action is to reinstall the problematic iPhone apps. In-short, the process involves deleting and re-downloading the crashing applications from the App Store.

To delete an app, find its icon on the Home screen or App Library. Press and hold the app icon until the menu appears. Tap Remove App > Delete App > Delete to uninstall the app on your iPhone.

To reinstall, open the App Store app and search for the application you just deleted. Once you’ve found it, tap the Cloud icon to the right of its name. The app will then be reinstalled on your iPhone and appear on the Home screen.

8. Check Your iPhone’s Storage

Low storage space may affect your iPhone performance and cause your apps to keep crashing. If your iPhone storage is indeed nearly full, it’s best to start creating free space on iOS.

To check the available storage space on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Here you’ll see remaining storage space on your iPhone and an overview of the apps taking up the most storage space. And if you see any apps you don’t use, make sure to remove them.

9. Reset All Settings

If your iPhone apps are still crashing on iOS 26, the next step is to reset all settings on your phone. This procedure restores all your iPhone’s settings to their default or factory state. Go to Settings > General, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone. Select Reset and choose Reset All Settings.

Your iPhone won’t delete any data as long as you don’t accidentally choose to Erase All Content and Settings.

iPhone Apps Still Keep Crashing? Your Device May Not Be the Problem

If you have tried all the above solutions, the issue may be the app itself when it keeps closing. Although this is beyond your control, there are still some steps you can take.

Check if an App Update Is in Development

An iPhone app that keeps crashing for many users is no small issue. Visit the app’s official website or social media pages. Here, developers may announce that they are aware of the issue and are working on a hotfix or update to fix it.

This way, you will know whether or not the developers plan to fix the crashing issue in a future update. And if they are, all you need to do is wait for its release.

Provide Feedback to the App Developer

In case you didn’t spot any announcements, you can provide feedback to the developers via email or other designated channels. Sometimes, only users of a particular platform or device will experience frequent app crashes, and developers may be unaware of the extent of the issue, especially if it’s an indie app with a smaller customer base.

While it’s understandably frustrating that your iPhone app keeps crashing when you want to use it, be polite and constructive in your feedback. Remember that app developers are people, too!

Replace With a Similar App

If you notice that the latest version history of the app was a year or two ago, and its social media hasn’t been updated in ages, chances are that the developers are no longer active. So, it’s best to head to the App Store to install another app that serves the same purpose to replace your current one.

Get Your iPhone Apps Working on iOS 26 Again

If you’ve had a headache over wondering why your iPhone apps keep crashing after iOS 26 update, we hope our list of fixes has helped you resolve the problem.

Focus on finding out if it’s an app-specific issue or whether the root cause is an iPhone. It’s always worth keeping things up-to-date on your iPhone to enjoy the latest features and ensure app compatibility.
