The 28 mm and 35 mm lenses need Photo Mode set to 24 MP, and once they’re added, you can pick which lens is the default for the Main camera.

  1. Start the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Camera, tap Formats, and tap Photo Mode and make sure 24 MP is selected.
  3. Go back to Settings and tap Camera. Then tap Main Camera or Fusion Camera below Photo Capture (depending on your model).

Apple News+ subscribers can automatically download News content, then access it when there’s no Wi-Fi or cellular connection, for example, when taking a flight or riding the subway.

Downloads can include stories, issues, audio stories, recipes, and puzzles, ready for Offline Mode.

Here’s how to use Offline Mode to read downloaded News content on iPhone.

Note: Content that can be downloaded for Offline Mode may include stories, issues, audio stories, recipes, and puzzles. Not all content types are available in all countries or regions.

Turn on Automatic Downloads for Apple News+

  1. Sign in to your Apple Account.
  2. Start the Settings app on your iPhone.
  3. Tap Apps, then tap News.
  4. Turn on Background App Refresh.
  5. Tap Automatic Downloads, turn on Allow Automatic Downloads, and turn on any of the following:
    • Recent Stories: Downloads the latest stories in the Today feed, Best of News+ feed, Sports feed, Shared with You, and History.
    • Saved Stories: Downloads the latest stories in your Saved Stories list.
    • Magazine Issues: Downloads the latest issues of magazines you follow.
    • Food & Recipes: Downloads the Food feed, the Recipe Catalog, and Saved Recipes.
    • Puzzles: Downloads the Puzzles feed, the feed for each puzzle type, and the puzzles in these feeds.
    • Audio Stories: Downloads audio stories in the Today feed and Audio tab.

Note: Turn on Optimize Storage to download smaller versions of images in stories and recipes.

As long as your iPhone has enough storage space and is connected to Wi-Fi and power, it downloads News content. On a cellular connection without Wi-Fi, only Top Stories in the Today feed download automatically.

Use News in Offline Mode

If you don’t have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection, No Internet Connection appears at the top of the screen and any content in the app that isn’t downloaded is dimmed. To switch from the currently loaded version of each feed to the downloaded version, tap Show Stories Downloaded for Offline Mode. When you reconnect to the internet, tap Check for New Stories at the top of the screen. All feeds in the app are refreshed and display the latest content.

Configuration profiles define settings for using iPhone with corporate or school networks or accounts. You might be asked to install a configuration profile that was sent to you in an email, or one that’s downloaded from a webpage.

You’re asked for permission before the profile is installed, and when you open the file, you see information about what it contains. You can see all the profiles you’ve installed, too. If you delete a profile, all the settings, apps, and data associated with it are deleted as well.

If you delete a profile, all of the settings, apps, and data associated with the profile are also deleted.

With Live Captions on iPhone, you can get a real-time transcription of spoken audio. Use Live Captions to more easily follow the audio in any app, such as FaceTime or Podcasts, as well as live conversations around you.

You can customize the text, size, and color of the captions, and choose how long to keep captions from your calls.

Here’s how to get live captions of spoken audio on iPhone.

Note: Live Captions is available on iPhone 11 or later. Live Captions isn’t available in all languages, countries, or regions. The accuracy of Live Captions may vary and shouldn’t be relied upon in high-risk or emergency situations.

Set up and customize Live Captions

  1. Start the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Accessibility and tap Live Captions. Then turn on Live Captions.
  3. Tap Appearance to customize the text, size, and color of the captions.
  4. Tap Keep Call Captions and then choose an option:
    • 1 Minute: Select 1 Minute to save captions from calls for up to one minute during a call. All call captions are cleared after the call ends. If you select 1 Minute, you won’t be able to copy, take a screenshot, or take a screen recording of the call transcription.
    • 1 Hour: Select 1 Hour to save captions from calls for up to one hour after a call ends. If you select 1 Hour, you’ll be able to copy, take a screenshot, and take a screen recording of the call transcription.

Note: When you choose 1 Hour, all call participants hear a brief audio announcement (“This call is being transcribed”) at the start of the call. If Live Captions is paused or the Keep Call Captions option is changed from 1 Hour to 1 Minute during a call, all participants hear an audio announcement (“This call is no longer being transcribed”).

Use Live Captions

With Live Captions on, iPhone automatically transcribes the spoken audio in apps, or the dialogue around you, and you can do any of the following:

  • Make the transcription window full-screen: Tap the Maximize button. To restore the window to the smaller size, tap the Minimize button.
  • Take a screenshot or screen recording of the transcription: Position the Live Captions window, then take a screenshot or take a screen recording.

Note: Screenshots, screen recordings, and copying transcriptions only work during and after a call if you chose 1 Hour while setting up Live Captions.
