How to Check Your iPhone 12 Battery Health

Do you need to charge your iPhone 12 more than you used to? It might be worth checking out your battery health.

If you’re someone who doesn’t upgrade your iPhone every single year, keeping an eye on its battery condition is crucial in the long run. This is because your iPhone’s battery performance deteriorates over time, directly impacting how often you’d need to charge your device.

Thankfully, Apple provides an easy way to check your device’s battery information in iOS. So, whether you own an iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max, here’s how you can check its battery health.

You can quickly view the battery information in the Settings app of your iPhone. Follow these simple steps to learn how:

Start the Settings app on your iPhone. Swipe down and tap on Battery.
Here, you’ll see an option called Battery Health. Tap on it to continue.
In this menu, you’ll see the exact maximum capacity of your iPhone 12 battery in percentage. This is the battery health of your iPhone 12.

In addition to the maximum capacity, you’ll find something called Peak Performance Capability. This shows if performance management features have been applied to your iPhone to prevent unexpected shutdowns.

What to Do If Your iPhone 12 Battery Health Is Low

If your iPhone 12 battery health is lower than 80%, you’ll see an important battery message in the same menu. According to Apple, when the maximum capacity falls below 80%, it means that your iPhone’s battery has significantly degraded, and it has to be replaced to restore advertised performance.

Apple’s battery replacement service costs $69 for iPhone 12 series.

If you choose not to get the battery replaced, you can minimize iPhone 12 battery drain by removing the apps that consume a lot of resources in the background.

It’s annoying when you have to charge your iPhone way more often than you did when it was new. Hence, it’s important to take advantage of the options Apple gives you and get your battery replaced at the earliest.

How to Check the Battery Cycle Count of Your iPhone 12

Do you know how many times you’ve charged your iPhone 12 battery? Here’s how to find out.

Battery cycle count can be an excellent way to determine the condition of your battery. On an iPhone, it gives you a better idea of how the battery has aged over the years.

Before you learn how to check the battery cycle count on your iPhone 12, let’s see what this term exactly means.

What Is the Battery Cycle Count?

Battery cycle count is simply the number of times a battery is fully charged and depleted. When you exhaust the battery of a fully charged iPhone, you complete one battery cycle.

In reality, rarely does anyone charge and use their iPhones like that. So, let’s take a look at a practical scenario, shall we?

Assume you have a fully charged iPhone and you drain it to 30%, meaning you used 70% of the battery. Then, you charge it again all the way up to 100%. Since you only used 70% of the battery, you haven’t completed a full charge cycle yet. It only counts when you use another 30% of the battery, because it’ll add up to a total of 100%, no matter how many times you charge your iPhone in the middle.

Hence, the battery cycle count would ideally show the total number of times you’ve used 100% of the batteries capacity, even if you only ever used it a little bit at a time in between charging.

First and foremost, we’d like to point out that you’ll only be able to view this data if you’re sharing iPhone analytics with Apple, which most people do. If you don’t, you need to turn this on and wait for two days before you go ahead with these steps.

To enable this option and check your cycle count:

Start the Settings app on your iPhone. Swipe down and select Privacy from the settings menu.
In the Privacy section, scroll all the way to the bottom and tap on Analytics & Improvements.
You’ll be able to see if you’re sharing analytics with Apple here. Next, tap on the option called Analytics Data.
In this step, you need to scroll down until you find a file that starts with log-aggregated. If you see multiple files with the same name, select the one at the bottom, since that’s the latest one.
Now, you’ll see nothing but lines of code. Tap anywhere on the code to access the selection tool and then drag it to select everything in this file.
Next, tap on the selected portion and choose Copy to store it in the clipboard.

Launch the Notes app on your iPhone and create a new note. Then, tap anywhere on the blank note and choose Paste.
Next, tap on the three dots icon in the upper-right corner of the screen to access more options. Select Find in Note.
Now, simply type batterycyclecount, and the Notes app will take you to the exact position in the file. Here, you’ll see a number right below the highlighted line. This is the battery cycle count of your iPhone.

You have what you needed. We had to use the Notes app since there’s no way to search for a specific line of code within the log-aggregated file. Of course, you can scroll and find it yourself, but this will take a lot of time and effort.

Now that you know both the battery cycle count and the battery health percentage, you can better understand your iPhone 12 battery’s condition.

According to Apple, the iPhone battery is designed to retain 80% of its maximum capacity by the time it reaches 500 charge cycles. However, if you see a much higher battery cycle count with similar battery health, it means that you have good charging habits and you’ve preserved the battery quite well.

Charging your phone isn’t as simple as just plugging it in. Here is how to fast charge your iPhone 12 mini.

It’s a known fact that chip technology is progressing at a rampant pace but batteries are struggling to keep up with the changes. Sure, we might have fast charging tech to counter it, but at times, it’s just not enough. So, today, we are going to share some tips on how to fast charge iPhone 12 mini and hopefully help you juice up quicker and get online faster.

How to Fast Charge iPhone 12 mini

Here’s how you can fast charge iPhone 12 mini and spend more time online:

1. Use a fast Charger

When it comes to the iPhone 12 mini, you might be wondering why it takes so long to charge. Apple no longer includes the standard USB charging brick with the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro max. There is only one cable included in the box — a USB-C to Lightning cable. With the old USB-A charger it takes over three hours to charge in full. But the phone does come with Fast Charging support. And Fast Charging allows you to recharge your iPhone 12 mini battery up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. And up to about 80% in an hour.

Now, when it comes to fast charging your iPhone 12 mini you need the proper accessories. You need to get an Apple’s 20W USB-C Fast Charger. Using a USB-C cable and USB-C charger will allow the iPhone 12 mini to charge at faster speeds. Using USB-C, you can charge the iPhone 12 mini to 50% in about 30 minutes. The highest wattage the iPhone 12 mini will use is around 22 watts, so a 20 watt or 30 watt charger will result in the about same charging speed. But basically any USB-C charger will be significantly faster than the old USB-A chargers. Make the investment, it’s totally worth it.

2. Enable Airplane Mode

One of the biggest draws on your battery is the network signal. As a general rule, the worse your signal, the faster your battery will drain.

Consequently, if you live in an area with a poor signal, charging your iPhone takes longer than if you reside in a place with a strong signal — the signal is eating through your power as you charge.

The quick solution? Put your iPhone in Airplane Mode before you plug it in. Testing suggests it could reduce the amount of time needed for a full charge by as much as 25 percent.

To put your iPhone into Airplane Mode, simply swipe down from top right of your screen and tap the Airplane Mode icon.

Just make sure you turn it off again once your battery is full!

3. Turn off Your iPhone

Simple, obvious, but often overlooked. If your iPhone 12 mini is turned off while it’s powering up, it’s going to charge a lot faster. Nothing will be drawing on the battery while you fill it up.

4. Use a Wall Socket

Using a USB port on your computer or in your car leads to a much more inefficient charging experience.

Typically, non-wall socket USB ports only offer a power output of 0.5A. Wall socket charging will usually give you 1A (depending on your device). There’s nothing wrong with receiving a lower amperage — it won’t harm your device — but you’ll definitely be twiddling your thumbs for a lot longer.

5. Buy a Power Bank

If you need to recharge your iPhone 12 mini while you’re on the go — for example, if you’re often out travelling all day — a power bank can be a lifesaver.

Many power banks offer the same amperage output as a wall socket, and in some cases, even more. But a word of warning, while your iPhone might charge faster with a two-amp output, you need to make sure your USB cable can handle the extra power.

6. Don’t use Wireless Charging

I’m not going to criticize wireless chargers — they entail fewer cables, and that’s something I’m sure we can all get onboard with.

However, if charging speed is your number one priority, you should avoid them. They offer a considerably slower charging experience than their wired counterparts. In fact, testing suggests they could be as much as 50 percent slower.

Why? There are two reasons. First, it’s more efficient to transfer energy through a cable than via simple contact. Second, the wasted energy manifests itself as excess heat. More on that in point seven.

7. Avoid Cases While Charging

As odd it may sound but a case on a hot summer day might actually throttle your charging performance and may even lead to battery damage in the long run due to increased heat. So, in order to fast charge iPhone 12 mini at a respectable rate, take that case off for a while, it’s totally worth it.

We have been Apple users for as far back as we can recollect. However, it did not start this way. My family was used to Android phones and I too owned an Android-powered phone and a Windows-powered laptop. I adored how much customization and personalization Android offered and I believed that Apple was just branding itself for the rich and that it was a status symbol. I failed to understand why exactly Apple was in every influential person’s hand or why it came in a hefty amount. I only understood when I got my first Apple product in grade ten- which was an iTouch. (An iPod Touch). I fell in love instantly and ever since not only have I been using Apple, I have made my family switch too. Sure, Android phones have their perks but it is Apple that I prefer for many reasons; usability, experience, and ease. All of these factors justify the price tag. Apple items are costly, however, there is an explanation that individuals like me continue to return to the brand: The items work! Apple offers probably the best hardware in the business—demonstrated by the way that Apple consistently beats the competition during in-house item testing.
Having said that, Apple has a wide range of products. Even with phones, many versions come out each September, and of course, the other gadgets are rolled out throughout the year. So, this brings us to the question: which Apple products should one definitely own? Well, I happened to purchase many overtime and was also given some to test for a few months which ended in me purchasing those as well. I have now compiled a list of the must-have Apple products that you should own if not only you are an Apple fan like me, but if you want to have a hassle-free, gadget-equipped life!

iPad Air (2020)

Uncountable categories of tablets are available today, and when we compile a list of the best tablets, keeping in mind many factors such as price, usability, features, looks, etc. we still fall short on the praise of Apple’s latest iPad. Yes, we tried models from Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, and others. Each had its unique selling point but overall, none of them could compare with Apple’s most recent iPads. Here are some of the benefits:
Portability: The iPad is lightweight and its slim self can be tucked away in a purse, briefcase, etc.
Battery life: The latest iPad is equipped with a long-lasting battery life that can last up to 10 hours with constant video-watching, using the internet, multitasking, and doing other things. Usability: The best part about owning an iPad is that from a child to a grandma to everyone in between; it can be used by anyone and the settings can be personalized accordingly! Display: The display is remarkable and large which allows it to be used for all purposes such as education, work, and entertainment. Features: Scroll through apps without having to leave one, give the boss a great presentation, and make remarkable videos, and so on!
Our rating: 9.9/10

MacBook Air (2020)

The most recent MacBook Air is the brand’s most slender, lightest note pad, and it beat down laptops from HP, Dell, Acer, and more when we used all alongside for a couple of months. From the amazing M1 processor, long battery life, and unfathomably smooth trackpad and console to the PC’s quality, everything is top-notch. In fact, it is extraordinary. Probably the greatest update with the new MacBook Air is its M1 processor, which conveys 60% more force than the models before it. It has an eight-core CPU that is super-fast, and a retina display that offers phenomenal detail. This MacBook also has an insanely long battery life of as long as 18 hours, permitting you to work more and charge less. MacBook Air is a game changer! You may wonder that these characteristics can be found in the other models as well, but MacBook Air takes the spotlight because it is built to function better and faster. To use Macbook to its full potential, make sure that you are connected to a high-speed internet connection that allows you to download your favorite apps and enjoy your Apple experience. If you are looking for reliable internet service, we highly recommend Spectrum Internet as it comes with incredible speeds and unlimited data to keep your device connected to the web at all times.
Our rating: 10/10

AirPods Pro (2020)

Already own a pair of Air Pods? It is time to upgrade! No gadget cancels sounds and distractions as well as Apple’s popular AirPods pro and it offers a magnificent sound experience. From being a status symbol to becoming a need, the AirPods Pro is especially amazing on account of their active noise cancellation and water resistance which the previous models do not offer. After charging fully, they can be used without a break for 4.5-5 hours! If you own an iPhone, the best smartphone to date, then getting AirPods Pro is a much-needed investment. And not to forget – they have been perfectly designed to fit in all ears. No more dropping the pods!

Ways to Fix Your iPhone 12 mini Mic Issues

If you’ve confirmed that your iPhone microphone isn’t working properly, now you can set out to fix it. Since there are various reasons why your iPhone 12 mini microphone may malfunction, let’s go through different ways to fix your problem.

Solution #1: Restart and Check for Updates

Sometimes the easiest solution is the best solution. Restarting your iPhone refreshes your iOS by clearing all processes and open apps. It can be a quick fix to your iPhone 12 mini microphone Issues.

Go to settings > General > Shut down. Leave it off for 30-60 seconds before turning it back on, then check to see if the issue is Fixed.

If a quick reboot doesn’t work, check for software updates, which is located under Settings > General > software update. A new software update usually fixes any bugs/errors that the current version may have, which could affect your iPhone’s microphone.

Solution #2: Clean Your iPhone’s Microphone

If you don’t clean your iPhone regularly, dirt can build up in the small openings of your phone, like the microphone port. Simply wiping your phone is not enough, as dust or other small debris can get packed in.

Like iPhone SE, your iPhone 12 mini is equipped with three different microphones, on multiple locations. For example, if you turn the iPhone, and carefully look at the rear camera, you’ll see a tiny hole beside the camera, that’s a microphone for the Camera, to record Videos and perform camera-related functions. Another microphone is near the lightning connector, often users get confused between Stereo Speaker and Microphone grill. The first four holes from the right side are the built-in stereo speaker grills, whereas the rest of them is the microphone holes. Plus, on the top near the ear speaker, there’s one more microphone.

Grab a toothbrush, or similar and use it to gently clean your microphones. The other alternative is to blow directly at them, to remove all the built-up debris. However, if you do this, be careful not to blow air further into the iPhone.

Another aspect to check while cleaning for is your case or screen guard. When you install a new protective accessory on your iPhone, there’s a chance that you’ll cover your mic with it. Make sure that no part of your case is blocking your mic, and that there’s no dust buildup trapped inside crevices of your case either.

Solution #3: Disconnect Bluetooth Devices

There’s also the chance that you left your iPhone connected to a Bluetooth headset or other device with a microphone. If that’s the case, your iPhone will use that as the primary microphone instead of the built-in one.

Make sure to check what’s currently connected under Settings > Bluetooth. Disable any active Bluetooth devices and try using the mic again to fix your problem.

Solution #4: Enable Microphone Access for Third-Party Apps

Are you having problems with video calls on apps like FaceTime, Skype, or WhatsApp? Chances are, you haven’t enabled the permission for the microphone for these apps.

Head over to Settings > Privacy > Microphone, and enable microphone access to the relevant apps.

Solution #5: Turn off Noise Cancellation

iPhone 12 mini come with a feature called noise cancellation enabled by default. Noise cancellation helps reduce the background noise when you are on a call or recording a video.

For those unaware of this, the result can sound a bit disorientating, so it’s easy to assume there is something wrong with your mic. Here’s how you can disable the setting to make sure your mic is fine:

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and navigate to Accessibility > Audio/Visual. Switch off Noise Cancellation toggle. Have a call with a friend and make sure the microphone is functioning properly. If it’s still malfunctioning then re-enable the feature and move to the next trick.

Solution #6. Reset All iPhone Settings

If your iPhone 12 mini microphone is still not working properly after following all the steps above, then consider taking this as a last resort. You will have to restore your iPhone to factory settings. It won’t delete your data but the step will erase all saved Wi-Fi passwords.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > and tap on Reset All Settings.

Solution #7: Take It to Apple Store

If all else fails, there is a good chance your iPhone is damaged. Mics are delicate parts and can easily break from fall, water, or similar damage. In this scenario, it is best to take your iPhone to Apple technician who can determine the fault within your device. Be sure to make a genius Bar appointment before visiting the Apple store to avoid waiting in line.

Several iPhone 12 mini users have been facing display issues on their device. Users have complained about flickering screen, a green tint and other colour inaccuracies in the phone’s display. Users have further stated that the issue occurs when brightness is set around 90 percent or lower in some cases.

If your iPhone 12 mini display is exhibiting flickering, a green or gray glow, or other unintended lighting variations under some conditions, work through these steps to get everything back to normal.

So if there’s any unprocessed data hampering your iPhone’s functions, a hard reset will clear everything right away. Of course, you can back up your phone (here’s how to backup iPhone data if there’s anything you’d like to restore later.

Your last resort is, of course, to get in touch with Apple Support and have it checked out by a professional. If none of the aforementioned techniques fixed your iPhone 12 mini Display Problems, it’s likely a hardware failure. In most scenarios, you will have to hand in your iPhone for a repair.

There’s no guarantee that any of those steps will be able to save your iPhone. Even if Genius Bar has a solution, chances are it won’t be cheap. So, it’s worth giving each one of these a shot before deciding between a paid repair or a new iPhone:

iPhone 12 mini

It has been reported by several users that their iPhone 12 mini is facing some issues with the camera application. Fortunately, a few possible fixes have been worked out and can be used to remedy iPhone 12 mini Camera issues.

Common iPhone 12 mini Camera Issues

Here are the most common iPhone 12 mini Camera Problems:

Before we explain how to troubleshoot iPhone 12 mini Camera problems, let me explain the black camera issue so you don’t misunderstand it for some other issue. Basically, when you launch the Camera, instead of seeing the objects, the Camera app is black, which makes it impossible to take a photo.

Even though many users had already reported these iPhone 12 mini camera issues, Apple has not officially released a statement. With that being said, we cannot just accept that these problems will be unresolved.

In this guide, we make sure to bring you some good news to ease your problem. Thus, we have compiled a list of reliable methods to help you work around these iPhone 12 mini Camera issues while waiting for a fix from Apple.

Let’s get started!

How to fix iPhone 12 mini camera issues

If you are experiencing Camera Issues on your iPhone 12 mini, follow these steps, testing after each step until your issue is resolved:

Solution #1: Close and restart the Camera app

While Apple’s motto is “it just works,” sometimes it doesn’t. Apple isn’t perfect, so its operating systems certainly aren’t immune to errors now and then — sometimes they aren’t properly loaded up when launched. In this case, you should try force quitting out of the Camera app and relaunch it. This is how most iPhone 12 mini Camera issues usually resolves for me.

Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open the App Switcher, swipe right to find the camera app, then swipe up on the app.

Solution #2: Switch between the front and rear cameras

Sometimes, iPhone 12 mini Camera Issues can be resolved by just switching between the rear and front-facing selfie camera. The problems could be caused by the app not loading properly, and each time you switch cameras, it forces the app to load again, so this could help. Another suggestion is to see if a third-party camera or video app works, such as Instagram or Snapchat.

While taking a picture or video, or using FaceTime, you can easily switch between the rear-facing and front-facing cameras. Once you have opened the “Camera” or “FaceTime” app, you will be able to see the “Switch Camera” icon. Tap the icon to switch back and forth between cameras.

Solution #3: Make sure VoiceOver is turned off

For some reason, VoiceOver seems to cause iPhone 12 mini Camera issues, so if you have it on, it’s a good time to try turning it off to see if it solves your issue.

Use any of these methods to turn off VoiceOver:
Summon Siri and say “Turn off VoiceOver”
Triple-click the side button
Go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver, then turn the setting off.

Solution #4: Restart your iPhone

If the other steps so far have not alleviated the iPhone 12 mini Camera problems, you should try restarting your iPhone. A good reboot of the hardware fixes a myriad of issues and could be what your iPhone needs. After all, a reboot refreshes the device’s memory and clears caches.

Do one of the following to turn off your iPhone:

Use the physical buttons on your iPhone.
Press and hold both the side button and either volume button until the slider appears on the screen.
Drag the slider.
Use the Settings menu.
Go to Settings > General > Shutdown.
Drag the slider.
Now, turn your iPhone back on by pressing and holding the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Solution #5: Force Restart your iPhone

A force restart can be useful for clearing up common iPhone 12 mini Issues. This includes situations where your iPhone keeps freezing or restarting.

To force restart your iPhone:
Quickly press the volume up button followed by the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Solution #6: Update iOS

If you’re running an older version of iOS, you may be experiencing glitches and bugs that may be patched in newer versions of the OS. It’s important to keep your hardware up-to-date with the latest versions of iOS. Not only do new versions of iOS patch previous issues, but they also make your device more secure and less vulnerable to security exploits. You can wirelessly update your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. You may want to turn on Automatic Updates.

Solution #7: Clean The Camera (External) Lens.

if your iPhone 12 mini Camera is not focusing, make sure that your phone’s camera lens is clean. Dust and dirt can affect the outcome of your captured images and videos. Even fingerprint smudges can also be a factor as to why your camera is not focusing on your iPhone 12 mini.

You can prevent this by cleaning your camera or external lens using a microfiber cleaning cloth, which helps clean hard surfaces like smartphones and oleophobic (oil repellent) iPhone screens. Do not attempt to use your fingers to clean them as it will leave fingerprint smudges, which we are trying to clean in the first place.

Solution #8: Take off The Phone Case.

Phone cases are one of the simple reasons why captioned images or videos can be blurred. We use them to add protection to our devices from any physical damages, but it can also cause some iPhone 12 mini Camera Issues. The additional layer of plastic or glass can result in poor images or videos.

In some cases, if you are using phone cases that partially cover the flash or the camera lenses, this can also cause iPhone 12 mini Camera problems. Magnetic phone cases are also the same as they can also affect your camera’s optical image stabilization feature. You can try taking some pictures or videos with the phone case, then try them without it to know if there are any differences.

Solution #9: Perform a factory reset

And when all else fails, and you still have iPhone 12 mini Camera Issues, you may need to try resetting your Device back to factory settings. If default factory settings do not work, the next step would be to erase all data and reset the phone — start with a clean slate, basically.

However, these are last resort steps and should only be used when everything else has failed. If you end up having to erase all of your data and resetting the phone, then make sure that you have backed up your iPhone first. Go to settings > general > Reset > Erase all content and settings.

Solution #10: Contact Apple Support

If you have tried everything in this guide and still have iPhone 12 mini camera problems, then it may be an issue with your hardware. The only way to fix that is to contact Apple Support or take it to an authorized repair center to see what they can do.
